All I see now of those is the 3080ti and 3090 ti for $1200 and $2000.

This is months away until release date, then months until stores get them, then guess what, everyone will want one of these especially scalpers.
The prices will be sky high for probably at least a year.
So think of the 4080 as a card that maybe you can get close to MSRP in probably 1 to 2 years, not something that you will get your hands on when it is released.
This is why if I can find a MSRP 3080 I'll buy it.

I'd probably do the same. 3080 FE are sold out. They have a few others around $800. Maybe I'll bite. Shouldn't be hard to sell down the road if you get lucky with a 4080.

I think this recession will cause demand to drop big time for these expensive video cards.
That is why I would only buy a 3080 if I can get it at MSRP right now, because these prices have to come down very soon to MSRP.
