None if they both vent out. Recirculating is odd.
But if you have no hood installed and you want one while renovating your kitchen, make sure it can handle the btu from the cooktop otherwise youll fail your electrical inspection unless you install a FAI damper with auto sensor.
microwave vents are pretty bad. On our GE Profile vented microwave that the builder installed barely does anything even on "Blast" mode (and its loud). Had a GE tech come out and their test to see if it is working properly is to put it on the middle mode and if it holds a piece of paper up then its working. The tech said that all exhaust vents on microwaves are pretty bad.

I'm waiting for the microwave to die and then i'm slapping a hood in the spot and going with a coutertop microwave.
Microwave vents are straight trash.

The top comes down?

It means it can vent or recirculate

Is this better than a microwave with the same cfm ratings?

Any significant benefits?

Didn't even think that would be an issue. Figured it would be common sense for these to be rated for the btus.

Yeah builder grades are probably low end on cfm. I meant to ask the ones which are approx 4-500 cfm exhausted outside is comparable or if this is better.

Unless you have other reasons...don't wait, do it now!
1) you start enjoying the benefits starting *today* and 2) you can actually/potentially sell the GE microwave while it still works. So, why wait?

Imo built-ins are way too big to be used as a countertop. They are a lot more expensive too so I say sell it and get a true countertop model before the built-in fad goes away lol

Unless you have a deeper countertop you can't use these built ins as cou ter top microwave as these need some clearance under the door in order to open (basically an inch or so).
