Metacritic: 75/100 Meta score, 7/10 user score.
I own it and can confirm it is a 6.5 - 7 at best. I've only played it a couple weeks and sadly stored it in its box for the last three years.
Super Mario Party, no. That game is very much a chance game, with less content and replayability than this. Mario Party Superstars, yes, but it's still twice the price.

This is a good multi-player game and is the lowest Nintendo goes with their first party games. Good buy for people who like Mario and haven't picked it up when it was this price in the past.
I would recommend Mario party over this

Some really love it. Giving it a try with the monthly $5 pro discount. Free shipping over $49 so did store pickup.

Solid game. Lacking in online play as there isn't really a ranked platform. Just some tournaments you can play in with no rewards. It's fun to play with friends at home given its easy to learn to play. Story mode is decent. Prob like 6 hours of additional game play with fun challenges and bosses to beat. This is def worth the $30 in my opinion.

Nintendo really dropped the ball with the Mario sports games this gen. They are all lacking in content and tough to recommend at any price.

I bought it on same for $30 3 years ago and traded it to GameStop 6 months later for $35. It's an ok game but gets kinda boring. My family is really into tennis too...

Maybe Strikerz and Tennis (can't speak for those), but Golf is loaded with content. The most courses of any game without paid DLC (it's free DLC). Many new game modes, and a full blown story mode which you can level up custom (Mii) characters. Monthly costumes unlocked by playing online matches. Over 80 hours into it and I still play it regularly. Probably my second favorite in the series.

I can't believe everyone's dogging this game. If you want to play tennis with friends and family or online via switch, this game is fantastic

I liked the original on N64 but when I picked this up I had trouble sticking with it. Maybe if you can get it for $25 it's a fun multiplayer game. I do miss the old Nintendo's way of doing it and lowering some games to $20 after a few years.
