Before looking for domain, do not search the domain in namecheap.com. Somehow there is a company in Denver that is getting your search result and registering the domain if it is catchy etc. Better to use whois in Linux, then register the domain on any registrar like godaddy, namecheap etc.

The renewal is still cheaper at name silo compared to namecheap even with the 20%..

They are just a enom reseller. Use a real registrar like namesilo.

Ah, I stand (sit?) corrected. Did not keep up with that after 2016 or so, transferred all out because everywhere else was cheaper for renewals.

Trying to renew one of my domains and I get:

ERROR: This coupon has expired or has already been applied to your account(s). Coupon code is not available. Please enter a valid promotion code.

EDIT: I'm dumb, ignore me

Double EDIT: The code says "20% OFF domains, hosting, ssl, email" when you apply it, but the price of my 2 domain renewals does not change :/ Chatting with them now

you can still extend years now. they don't go on sale often from my experience (maybe sale for new users once in a while).
Get the extension now would be my recommendation.

Thanks. Very odd this came around and I noticed it on here when needing to renew. lol. And didn't feel like the annoying process of transferring to save more money.
