I believe maximum Xbox Membership you can have is 36-month. Did they change it?

This is legit method and not related at all. Microsoft cracked down on accounts which used fraudulent tactic by stacking multiple instances of the PC introductory offer and converting it to Game Pass Ultimate.
Check attachment for the PC introductory offer they used.

What a crappy article. It essentially says give no specifics. How many people were affected, who? Basic journalism is dead.

"As a reaction to this wave of fraud, Microsoft has decided to shut down all related Xbox Game Pass subscriptions after notifying the users they were assigned to." huh?

Then it discusses chip shortages due to the pandemic. What does that have ANYTHING to do with digital subscriptions?

Are we sure 36 months is still the max? I did 36 months via 3 month codes, then the conversion to Game Pass Unlimited for $1 for the first month and 2 months free. Took me out to 39 months. I still have 38 months but I wouldn't hesitate to get some more while it's still cheap.

If you are on a trial ultimate subscription does it still work?

Edit- It does work with a trial subscription. Also MS is offering a $1 3-month Ultimate trial for some, so check the X-Box site.

Yeah, I've stopped buying any of these grey seller deals. The risk may be small but it would really suck if it happened. I just buy when big name retailers have sales.
