Pumpkin is kind of universal. There are always fish that color around. Some say red encourages strikes. I would try one of these first if in unfamiliar territory.

White is more for clear water. If you have light colored bait fish in the area it might do the trick.

Dark colors tend to be used in dark water. They facilitate a shadow like profile. You won't see a lot of white fish in dark stained water and pumpkin just kind of disappears.

What you generally want to try and do is match patterns that you see in your fishing spot. These jigs kind of represent crawfish and bait fish. Especially if you throw some kind of trailer on them that might look more like claws or a swimming tail. This is also a tip that can "bulk up" a smaller lure so it seems more attractive to larger fish. So if your fish and crawdads are brown, try brown. If they're green, try green.

At $2 each, you might as well try all of them. They usually sell for $6ish so it's almost like buying 1.

See if you can find some videos or articles about jig fishing, and especially using jigs where you fish. You'll learn the technique and see what more experienced anglers near you are choosing.
Fishing deal! Great jigs. I primarily fish ponds so the 1/2 oz size is a little too heavy. 1/4oz and 3/8oz are perfect. 1/4oz white jig is a go!

Lame can't order them to Maine. I assume because of lead, but the laws says lead lures that are unpainted/finished. This seems like its painted lead.

Gonna grab a few, color suggestions?
it's a state lake that is big enough for boats but I'll be fishing off the shore and from islands that you can kayak to.

I assume 1/2 oz is too heavy for pod or shore fishing?
