Another 69 bucks for the extension unless you don't have to reach higher limbs.

Pass even with the other stuff I am thinking.
Anyone having luck with this deal?
Edit - I'm a moron. Taxes.... Time to get some caffeine.

If you are trying to reach a high up limb then this is a toy without add ons or a ladder which negates the idea of portability too.
Seems like you got a defective one or perhaps there is more than one model and yours was a cheaper one. Mine was about 100 bucks.
I bought a refurbished string trimmer kit a few years ago, then got a new pole saw and blower kit, then the hedge trimmer attachment and extension pole in a Home Depot percent-off type sale. So that meant having two batteries - an 8.0XC from the pole saw/blower kit, and a 9.0HD from the string trimmer.
All of the tools are excellent performers.
Buying in packages like this is the way to go. Beware however that having to later buy individual items as you grow your matching tools will generally be expensive. Those separate attachments and batteries are how they sucker you in :-). Waiting for sales means you either wait a long time or pay a lot for the convenience of owning now.
The 9.0HD battery from the string trimmer recently failed. That would have been at least $200 to replace as I was just out of 3 year warranty. Fortunately they still replaced it with a new 8.0XC, so that's good support from Milwaukee.
Be forewarned this brand seems marketed at the pro contractor and generally is priced accordingly. If you are patient, you can still acquire additional tools at a good price usually in a package deal. Do not expect to typically find the larger batteries individually on sale.
Company seems to stand behind the product, and tools all perform great, so overall it's been a good ownership experience.
Edit: try to store lithium batteries at partial charge to extend life. I suspect always full charging after use, then storing was my likely cause of my battery failing
