Very big difference. I bought the Beatles albums because a good shape first pressing is priced like a car. These won't give you better sound than a high quality digital source because they pressing is based on a digital file, instead of the old analog tapes they were recorded on. To get better sound with vinyl, you need as close to first pressing as possible, and really good equipment to play it on.

The only logical reason for vinyl is because you can get better sound out of it than a digital format. To be able to do this, you need good equipment. On the player, your most important thing is the cartridge. (This is the part that has the needle) Then it has to go to a good amplifier/receiver and good speakers. Otherwise, vinyl is just a hipster activity and those cheap players with cheap cartridges will just wear out your records and give you more poor sound.

I would check out turntablelab.com for a great selection of most of your vinyl needs. They have some great turntable packages, from starter sets to advanced, and they sell a lot of vinyl too.

Well my set was a Onyko belt drive going into a Yamaha SX 30 receiver with an old pair of JBl speakers with lattice wood covers. If you can replicate this or come close to it, I highly recommend it. I bought mine over 45 years ago however only have the turntable left, and a ton of albums from that time frame. However if this is just a short fad for you I wouldn't recommend vinyl and suggest just listening to music like everyone else does, via iTunes.
