Yes, you can refill 1 lb. canisters. Yes you can do it safely if you're not a moron. Yes it's pretty cheap. Yes I've done it. Yes you'll probably never blow yourself up or get in trouble if you get caught doing it. The 5 pounders are just waaaaay easier to deal with.
I use my 5 lb. for my Weber Q1200 grill and Blackstone Griddle when camping, a harbor freight torch for killing weeds in the yard, my Buddy Heater in the winter when I'm ice fishing.
This would be a perfect pairing for something like a Mr buddy heater too, thing blows through 1lb tanks like nothing, but a 20lb is cumbersome.

Refilling a 1-lb tank just needs a short hose, special adapter, a big freezer (or winter time), and of course a 20-lb tank of propane.
Would love to know where you guys are getting these prices. Every where I have looked they are at least $50.

Silly question - are these safe to store inside once full? I never thought about the green ones being unsafe, but it is a flammable gas. Any tips? I do have a shed I could use.
