If you don't already have B&D batteries I would look into Ryobi at Home Depot. It's currently the annual "Ryobi Days" sale going on and there are some current deals on Ryobi 18v tools including drill and driver impact kit with 2 batteries and charger. Ryobi is on sale at Home Depot A LOT during the year and if you not in immediate need put a "Ryobi" alert on Slick Deals to let you know anything someone posts about deals.

Decent tool but bulky compared to most 18-20v impact drivers. For someone currently using the B&D 20v platform this is a no brainer.

All I need is an impact driver, should I get this and then buy a battery or is this only worth it if you already have a battery?

the b&d drill w battery & charger is often available for $25

but this beats the pants off that plan

do walmart still have the five-tool hart set for $80?

or ryobi deals that come around all the time, sweeter if you're near a direct tools outlet.

Would this impact driver do a lot better than this kind of impact driver/drill combo kit? Or the impact driver come with the combo kit is all most people need?

If you do even a smidge of diy work, you're going to want dedicated tools. Having to constantly switch attachments is a massive time sink.

Just go Ridgid and stick to that. No point buying this cheap junk and continuing on unless you just want a cheap one time tool. If you plan to have tools get a good brand and build that up instead of this and having to pay again.

OOS but you can still order it, hopefully it will be available to ship soon. I have the chainsaw and blower system that I found a few years ago here on SD for cheap, not that great but good enough for small jobs.

I actually got that hart 5 tool set for $80, I haven't opened it yet, because then I saw the ridgid link you just posted a couple days ago and then I figured I really only need an impact driver.

I have an old craftman drill which is what I've been using and then I actually did some research on what an impact driver is and now know that is really what I need.

I have this tool and a bunch of other yard and hand tools in the 20v line up and absolutely love them. I just got the new axial 20v blower and it's awesome. This is a great deal

I've had this driver for a few years. Hasn't failed once. I'm a modest DIYer, but I've never had a driver fail before the battery. B&D batteries have been good for me.

This might be okay if you already have the 20v battery, but don't expect too much out of it. Usually the higher end power tools Stanley/Black+Decker make are going to be sold as DeWalt and the Black+Decker tools are more for DIYers.

The cheap RIDGID was just Frontpage at $89 for a drill and impact driver and two batteries. Brushed tools and per a comment, old batteries. For someone who already has B&D 20v batteries this is a no-brainer. For someone who has RIDGID batteries, they can probably do better getting a brushless impact driver from DTO during one of their many sales.

Agree with others, if you have not already bought into the B&D line, then look at something else that includes the battery.
I got a 20V B&D drill/driver with 2 batteries and a charger for like $25 on clearance at Walmart a few years ago, so that it what got me into B&D.
I ended up buying a tool only Porter-Cable impact driver (compatible with B&D batteries with a small modification) for $40 a few years ago that has worked well, and at this price am almost tempted to grab this as a spare.
