I have a 2017 model that's still doing its thing. Yes it's kind of slow but my kids don't seem to mind. Still Streams and plays videos from an SD card without issue.

Do you mean battery life ?

PC Mag said they got 4 hours of video streaming

Or are you asking how long until the tablet hardware fails and it dies and won't work any more?

These are great disposable tablets, but I can't stand buying anything that still uses micro-usb. Holding out until the usb-c equipped model goes down to a similar price.

These little tablets are simple and slow, and they are a fantastic cheap addition to my travel bag. Buy a cheapo stand/case on ebay and then load them up with videos for long trips. They don't weigh much or take up any space, the 7" screen is much better than watching stuff on my phone, and when I arrive, my phone battery is fresh.

Linux potential? Or is it going to ship with newer OS that makes that not possible?

Edit: looks good according to a Liliputing article from a quick search. Cortex A53...

I've had this Tablet a couple years. I contacted them on customer service and said the ads were disrupting my reading and killing my battery life because of the auto playing video ads and they officially removed them without me having to pay the $15

Just plug in USB-C adapter like $2.

Go for the 32gb version for $3.00 more?

Thinking of just using this as a remote device for all the home/tv items.
