Be sure to email SS and ask if this is Microsoft Authorized.

If they say it is, then you have recourse if the licensing fails like it did for me.

Got my money refunded even though I had installed it.

While these licenses may activate and work, they are NOT legit. This is Office Professional Plus, which is only sold by Microsoft through volume licensing to large organizations. They are not intended for sale to consumers. You can call Microsoft and verify this for yourself.

Just use LibreOffice (previously called OpenOffice). It's open source. It's free. Info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LibreOffice
It's compatible with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint for what the vast majority of people use.

If you're using more advanced features, that relatively few people use, especially for home use, there could be some compatibility issues.

Trying to figure out if this is actually better than those $8 deals on fleabay, or just a $39.99 version of the $8 deal. Reading through their comments and review is hard to tell.

Possibly not grey market. It looks like Popsci is just linking to stack exchange anyway.

Used the Popsci link. Purchased, got the code right on the web page and it activated right away in MS account. No need for further emails, or anything.

You do the ebay licenses and you have to re-activate through the phone since they have been used 100x already. It works, but is a PITA.

How did your licensing fail even though you had successfully installed it? I thought the process was activate license/code in Microsoft account >> download >> install.

If you check your licensing status, it may say unlicensed, even though the software appears to be functional.

Where do you check the licensing status? Is it somewhere in your Microsoft Account page?

You do it from a cmd prompt. Check some of the previous threads for this deal when it was $50 from SS or other like PC Mag.

Oh. Just to be clear though, when you bought from Stack Social:
- They sent you a key and you registered it at: https://setup.office.com/
- Office shows up as a purchased app in your Microsoft account at: https://account.microsoft.com/services
- You downloaded and installed Office straight from Microsoft and not from some ISO.
- You run a cmd prompt and it shows your product is "Unlicensed?"

Did I get that right? Also could you please kindly share which prompt you used, so I can test my own potential purchase? Thanks!

Just because you are able to install if and it works today doesn't mean Microsoft cannot revoke access in the future especially if its obtained through illegitimate means.'

The clue its illegitimate is this statement: "Redemption deadline: redeem your code within 30 days of purchase". Real licenses do not have a timeframe to redeem. They put this statement in because they fear Microsoft will revoke the license and ability to activate

I really wish SD would stop allowing clearly fraudulent software licenses to be advertised on their platform. I guess it will take a phone call from the FBI or the fraud investigation folks at Microsoft before they learn their lesson. That small referral commission won't seem like it was worth it when that happens.

Most people who use uncertified microsoft licenses are <21 yr olds. Microsoft lets you get used to it, so when u can afford it, you buy it when u get a real job.

pretty sure you didn't buy your fraudulent copy of MS Office from Gamestop, lol. Applause

I'm guessing autocorrect, you've been helpful in the past.
