If they say it is, then you have recourse if the licensing fails like it did for me.
Got my money refunded even though I had installed it.
It's compatible with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint for what the vast majority of people use.
If you're using more advanced features, that relatively few people use, especially for home use, there could be some compatibility issues.

Possibly not grey market. It looks like Popsci is just linking to stack exchange anyway.

Used the Popsci link. Purchased, got the code right on the web page and it activated right away in MS account. No need for further emails, or anything.
You do the ebay licenses and you have to re-activate through the phone since they have been used 100x already. It works, but is a PITA.

- They sent you a key and you registered it at: https://setup.office.co
- Office shows up as a purchased app in your Microsoft account at: https://account.microso
- You downloaded and installed Office straight from Microsoft and not from some ISO.
- You run a cmd prompt and it shows your product is "Unlicensed?"
Did I get that right? Also could you please kindly share which prompt you used, so I can test my own potential purchase? Thanks!
The clue its illegitimate is this statement: "Redemption deadline: redeem your code within 30 days of purchase". Real licenses do not have a timeframe to redeem. They put this statement in because they fear Microsoft will revoke the license and ability to activate
