Very similar in all ways to the Classic I bought from Walmart. But for this same price I upgraded to the Laredo 1000 last year (WM clearance), and it is worlds better because of the wifi (app temp control and probe temps), built-in shelves, and much more accurate PID controller. You can get good results with a Classic/700, but this is one of those rare cases where I'd recommend waiting a little, or at least shopping around a bit more. I loved mine because it's like cheating compared to charcoal, but I'm definitely glad I upgraded, too.
If you go with one like this, you'll probably want to add shelves. I can tell you form experience that it isn't hard to bolt ready made closet shelf supports on the front, or flip-down shelf brackets are even better. You can also add a control rod for the sear control plate pretty easily with some threaded rod and a couple of nuts. Of course the Laredo has the features already, and more.

Usable but not nearly as precise as modern PID controllers. You'll get some temp swings, for sure, but they didn't seem to affect my cooks that much. Burgers, steaks, ribs, brisket, turkey, whatever, it all still came out great for me.
I did use an additional smoke source sometimes but I'm not sure it was really necessary.
Awesome OP. I have been waiting for one of these. My traeger junior has not been working as it should for the last year or so, and I've been looking for a new smoker. This is better all around !!
I had an absolute nightmare with my 1150. Looking on the pit boss forums it was quite common. The PID controller would jump all over the place causing all sorts of issues. I tried every youtu.be solution and could never get it to play nice. Ended up getting a kamado joe deal from here and have never looked back. I hope all of you that try pitboss have a better experience than I did.

You're not the first person I've read with those issues. It seems like there was a bad batch of controllers at some point and it seems especially prevalent with the 1000+ grill sizes. I've had my PB850 going on 3 years and it's been flawless.
Pit Boss 5 year warranty is great. Had some minor issues w mine and they where responsive. They do offer a PID controller upgrade for their units but it will not fit this model.
BJs also has the 820D3 for the same price. From what I read the 700 has more searing space whereas the 820 is a bit bigger and has some extra shelves. https://www.bjs.com/product/pit-b...0002528287
