Hold on to your dollars for some real deals. That recent 50% off at DTO was just the tip of the iceberg. They, and other retailers, are getting a ton of delayed inventory in right when a recession is starting to rear its head.
I've bought half a dozen Rigid tools from DTO over the years. My experiences have always been good.
That said, any Slickdealer who has dealt with this site will know that that DTO claims to have "sales" all the time. Don't believe it. Often times, their "sale price" is exactly the same as their normal price. While their prices are almost always cheaper than buying from Home Depot...if you want a SLICKDEAL, you need to find the price of the tool you want and then check back in on the site each time they have a "sale." Eventually, your item will be discounted. Be patient.
My purchases have worked at about a 50% rate. The last one is a typical example of when it doesnt work. Ordered a hedge trimmer at a great price. Took 30 days for them to ship. Fedex is awful these days. Mine came bent. Called them daily for 3 days. They dont return calls. The call back option never works. You have to stay on the line for sometimes hours to get thru. They are very courteous on the phone, gave me a prepaid RMA to ship back. One week to deliver, then it takes at least 2 weeks to process. By then, the item is out of stock, so they cannot ship another one and will refund my $. That is a LOT of work to get nothing. And my return rate is about 50% due to fedex handling to CA. Is it worth it? Depends on the discount. It has to be greater than 50% off for me to bother. Most things are only 30% off. Then again, Home Depot is also a mess right now. I dont think its just my bad luck. Many stores in their desperation to hire more people have lowered their standards and service is especially bad right now across the board.
The dollar is strong right now for a few reasons. After years of easy money, the Fed is raising rates. We saw this back post-great financial crisis and we're seeing this now as we move past the pandemic. Higher interest rates mean higher returns for investors, so that's been bidding up the price of the dollar. Other things like the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, the zero-COVID policy in China. etc contribute as global investors typically pile their cash into the U.S. for safekeeping. Again, bidding up the dollar. Yes, it actually helps us with the inflation in the short-term because the stronger the dollar is, the lower import prices are.
personally I hope inflation stays strong for 3 more months for COLA rates to be INSANE. let inflation drop after that, gimme my 10% inflation cola lol.
To bad that 40V battery isn't available for shipping. That's a great discount.
Agreed. I don't even need another but can't pass that up. I got the 40v blower and inverter last time so it's weird they can ship me a blower and battery but not a battery and charger? Maybe it isn't in OEM packaging.
I use that invertor for the most random stuff. Like, why pull out an extension cord? I'll just plop this thing on the table. Got covid and you want to game on your laptop in bed but the laptop only lasts like an hour gaming on battery? Grab this bad boy. Our neighbors lost power in the winter for over a week so they got to use it first. They liked it so much they went and got their own. Waiting on those big 4 slot ones to come down in price... one day...
Don't be in a rush… pretty sure my lawn will stop growing before the equipment arrives to cut it.. 1 month and counting..
I had to go on their Facebook page and complain on an ad they were running. I then filed a complaint with the BBB and they magically shipped my order after that. I was nearing a month for mine as well.
had an oder for 2 2gal sprayers cancelled 2 weeks ago. order was confirmed then cancelled 2 weeks later. scam.. filed a complaint wit bbb. sprayer is avail (same unit) but a different stock #
Same thing happened to me. I wanted those sprayers. I'll pay full price at home depot before buying from these crooks again
How long do these things take to ship? My order on 6/18 during the Father's Day sale hasn't shipped yet and still says "Processing." I could have walked to their store 200 miles away and came back by now.
need ryobi ratchet but the darn thing ain't going on sale
Do you mean the 1/4in or 3/8in non-extended ones that were on sale last month at 50% off or the combo that was on sale (with the 1/2 in Impact Wrench, battery, charger and bag) for $115 just 2 weeks ago?

They are all over the board. My 6/18 order hasn't shipped yet (7 different items) but my 6/20 order (2 items) shows as being shipped this week (no tracking number yet ). Oddly enough, the order I placed yesterday (for 5 of the power sources) is now showing as shipped (with no tracking number though).

I haven't seen the extended on a real deal at DTO yet - I actually caved and bought the HD $199 deal (with the 3 different HP batteries) during Ryobi days. It is only a 1/4 but that works for my needs.
