This post doesn't mention it, but the email C1 sent for this promo seems to indicate it's Venture X cardholders only, but the website doesn't specify, so maybe...

Do note per the T&C that you have to email Cultivist to cancel the membership, or it will auto-renew at $40/mo. That's right... email to cancel, so you can probably guess how fun that could potentially be.

T&C also say you have until June 22 2024 to activate, so if you are going to use it, you can wait until you might have specific trips to well-covered cities planned.

It's not 100% clear whether authorized users get their own separate membership, but it says "cardholder" which typically includes authorized users separately.

since its Capital one you can just use virtual number and lock it immediately so they don't charge you in case you have a hard time to cancel it

I understand your point but disagree. As the user Hotdeal13 stated, if you make attempt to cancel by following their directions to cancel, then yes that absolutely "absolves" you of membership dues especially since you have a record of cancelation. This is not some cat and mouse game; businesses should be held accountable too for their inaction. Your post is unsettling to me and attempts to make bad business practices acceptable with the burden on the consumer.

Looks like they are playing all the credit cards

Amex had this deal in Jan. You have to email to cancel or it auto renews.

I signed up but never used then emailed to cancel.

I signed up but never used.
Did they respond with an email to confirm your cancellation?

Philadelphia museum of art isn't on the list one of Americas oldest museums. The Barnes foundation isn't mentioned, more Picasso's in this museum than anywhere else.

Inability to bill a credit card doesn't absolve you of membership fees, though. Similar to how a gym will pursue you heavily to recover membership fees, Cultivist could bill you via snail mail and turn you over to collections if you don't pay. I just don't know much about them as a company, but the email to cancel thing wouldn't make me optimistic about their billing practices.
Just curious, if they don't have your SSN, their collections agency couldn't possibly ding your credit report, right? What other recourse do they have? Are they going to sue you over $40?

I was able to activate it with my Quicksilver card I never use except overseas. I can login in the website but cannot find the app on the App Store so I guess I need to wait til the physical card comes. Weird site, but this can save me hundreds for dates in NYC vs going out to dinner πŸ˜…

It works for all capital one cardholders and up to three guests.
define 'all' and 'cardholder' -- includes those with a C1 debit card?

Worked with my Quicksilver Card. I did as someone suggested and used a Virtual card that expires in less than 6 months. I will email to cancel, but I am not worried about being charged. I will be making use of this as I am in the NYC metro area and it could be a big money saver on day trips.

Definitely recommend staying away - their website is quite poor. No instructions on how to cancel. Their contact form doesn't even work on their website - says "message can't be delivered" when sent. Probably a big hassle.

Also just an FYI it's only art museums - not for any other museum type.
It's Capital One, the most typical bank, you expected any better?

Update: they talk about the app and your membership card, but there is no app. They just sent me directions to add the web site to my Home Screen πŸ˜… also there apparently is no physical membership card anyway, and with no app, you're just using a Jpeg from the web site.

Seems they've put a lot of effort into the content side and finding partners but not so much in the user journey or friction audit. Will see how useful it is moving forward.

Costs $240 in the fine print. Hard pass. Not going through the hassle of cancelling, then they charge me anyway.

Is the virtual number available for debit card holders? I don't have a credit card
