This is a great deal, but be aware that multiple components in these are proprietary. That doesn't make this a bad deal; it's a great deal for the specs. But you can't upgrade the motherboard without also switching case and power supply. We've also had some issues with the video cards these use when trying to upgrade: two of them died upon being moved to a different motherboard (and most likely from being hooked up to a standard power supply instead of the thing these have). Not all of them die from this but two out of four was enough that we stopped doing it when customers asked.
Again, not a bad machine, but don't expect to be able to slowly Frankenstein this into a more powerful pc over time. It is what it is, it'll last several years. Think of it as a console that runs like a PC and there shouldn't be any buyer's remorse.
The video card removal is a gamble. I work at a pc repair shop, we're starting to wonder if these use different voltage than "normal" GPUs, as we've killed a couple by hooking them up to normal power supplies.
This is a great deal… I bought 6 of these for mining with 3060ti last year during the shortage… they've ran 24/7 for over a year without an issue… Only has 2 ram slots instead of 4, and fans can be upgraded… But for $699 I would highly recommend.
Thanks! 1 year in have they turned a profit and are you using a mining pool? TIA

What's your recommendation? Dell XPS? Your points are valid, and I'm wondering what the good options are

As long as you can take the CPU and video card out in the future this seems like a pretty good deal. So what's the catch?

Interesting. I was considering getting this desktop and then swapping my 1660 super and the RTX 3060 between this unit and my other PC. Now I'm concerned the video card can be potentially killed. I'm not sure if it is worth the game. Anyone thoughts?

Bought one during the last deal at this price. I upgraded from an Xbox One S and have really liked it since day one.
Of course Activision decided to permanently ban my CoD account completely out of nowhere which baffles me, accusing me of "using unauthorized software or game manipulation" so now I'm wondering if someone at some point had this PC and used cheating software. Maybe they returned it and HP sold it as new??
