Gen2 has higher resolution camera with some degree of autotracking, privacy switch, adaptive color temperature, but no 3.5mm audio output. Basically, it is mainly with improved camera for video call.

I have a echo show 5 (2nd Gen, 2021) but the trade in options only show me echo show (1st Gen, 2019). Will the trade-in discount/GC option would work for me?

i have a lot of diferent Alexa devices and I can't get any of them to apply instantly... they all say "applied after we receive and appraise your trade-in" Frown

This is what I did for my bedroom, however I have not had any issues with the 5. I ended up moving the 8 to the kitchen as the clock faces were not as customizable as the 5's and it was too bright for the bedroom. But for $10+ after instant credit I can't complain about the lack of options on the 8.

Traded an Echo 5 1st gen and an Echo Dot I don't use (total $25 in trade), and picked Echo Show 8-only (no blink camera, I have enough). Total with trade-in and discounts $20. $1 digital discount for no-rush, $19. Not bad for what is basically electronics recycling for me.

Yup mine is actually in my hands right now, I believe the fastest I've ever received an amazon order. Few hours. I imagine an account needs to have some sort of history to trust you'll send in the old device.
