I believe these are way expensive for what they are. I am looking to switch over to the battery powered tools but the cost is just too much for what they are.

This is just an attachment (not even a complete tool) and add the cost of the batteries.

This multi-head system is not economical at all. The only reason I have is is because Home Depot had it on sale a few years ago when they got rid of the ego line. But otherwise, separate tools would be more convenient and if on sale, more economical.

So you recommend going with individual tools over the multi-head system for both cost and ease and quality of doing the task?

Yes, if you get the items on sale. I currently use the multi-head to edge only, I have a separate trimmer and blower (trimmer and blower came as a kit).

Problem is Ego doesn't have a pole saw or edger or cultivator etc as stand alone tools so you have to do the multi head system. I just wait for sales on the ones I want because I also don't want 3-4 different battery systems

My ego multi head system seems to be drilling some on the shaft lately. Need to look into it. 😞

I hate this tool! Out of the 6 ego tools I have this one makes me feel like a girly man and I am actually in great shape for a Boomer. Your forearms will burn and shoulders will be sore the next day if using this as intended on tall hedges for any duration of time. I have tried 3 different techniques and always dread using this thing.

Agreed with the PP the only reason to go with the multi-head is for the edger, or if you need one of the other aforementioned tools.

The only reason to hate this tool is that awful plastic control lever. Otherwise it's magnificent. Cuts through branches like butter. In my experience it starts to feel really heavy only after you've attached the extension section. Otherwise pretty well balanced.

It's actually pretty inexpensive for what it can do. Please compare these tools to the Makita's professional line and those prices will make your eyes water. At the same time EGO beats every single one of their tools. Never going back to the 18volt gardening tools or the knock off brands like Greenworks.

A stihl adjustable trimmer attachment is going to cost twice as much and doesn't include a base which is $200 minimum. This seems like a fair price for a comparatively lighter duty tool.
