Bought this 28 days ago lol. I like it a lot honestly. I wasn't ready for a curved monitor, but man do I love the real estate. I've had no issues, it's a little bright at night but it's got several brightness/color options and I just don't bother to change them. Crisp quality. 165 Hz, IPS. I upgraded from a 1080p 27" 60Hz, so I really am happy with it.

The industry standard for 34" seems to be curved these days. Has anyone tried a flat 34" and how the experience is compared to a curved one?

I use a similar Samsung 34" UW and its flat. It's fine for my viewing distance, if you sit within 18" you'll want curved.

I have 2 ASUS VS239H-P monitors currently will this ultrawide be a big upgrade?

I want to try an ultrawide. I liked the GIGABYTE G34WQC, would this one be better?

TIA!

LG Curved one is rated #5 in computer monitors on amazon and this HP ips one rated at #91, not sure what algorithm they use to rate these.

Price:
highest $500, average $495 , lowest $350 for va curved per CCC for the last 12 months.
highest $460 , average $440 , lowest $350 for ips flat per CCC for the last 12 months.

I'd say get flat for video editing and curved for gaming. If you sit far away from monitor flat will work just as good. I got the curved because the intended purpose is for gaming only, it's a bigger sale, rated higher on amazon ranking, and I've never had a curved one so I definitely want to try one.

I have this exact monitor and it's gorgeous. I used to have a Samsung Odyssey G5 27" curved and it was great for games, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the curve when I was not gaming.

It's not a problem for me as my office is dark, but maybe the brightness @ 400 nits could be an issue for people if you're using it in a bright environment. 400 nits is plenty bright for me. (even in a lit environment)

I'm definitely tempted to buy a curved one, but I'm not sure honestly. I personally really like the flat look, plus IPS, so at this price point it's fantastic. I sit far enough away where I don't have to move my head much. But there has been twice while play CoD, where I wanted to try a curved.

I spend most of the time programming on it. Visual studio code has never been so crisp. Add PowerToy's FancyZones on top and it's real nice.

The only negative I really had against buying it was that it didn't have the picture-by-picture mode that Gigabyte's m34 or whatever had, but that's out of stock and FancyZones (for the most part) is a good substitute for that.

EDIT: also I want a flat not just cause I love the flat aesthetic, but in case I get back into 3d modeling.
Fancyzones ftw

It's purely based on how many are sold. It has nothing to do with the quality of the products. It's just a best sellers list. Also, a curved monitor is much more important for a VA panel, like the LG. VA panels have poor viewing angles, so the colors near the sides will look bad on a large ultrawide flat panel. This isn't a problem for IPS panels, as the image looks the same no matter what angle your viewing it from. As long as you're monitor is far enough away so that you can see the entire screen without needing to turn your head, the IPS doesn't need a curve. It's why curved IPS panels are rare, while ultrawide VA panels are much more commonly curved. After switching to an IPS panel, I'll never go back to VA. Also, this HP uses an LG IPS panel, and is a better monitor for gaming overall.

I have this monitor. It's great. So inexpensive compared to monitors with the same specs it doesn't even make sense. Get it if you've been looking for one

Would it be worth the jump from this LG monitor? I'm only using it for work so I don't know if I would take full advantage of the refresh rate.
