Bought these for 379 last time they were on sale and they're great. I saw lots of complaints about the rubber smell but I haven't had that problem. They work and last great with the rubber coating. Highly suggest

Love this set. Bar and weights are pretty high quality. Ordered this on their website a couple of months ago when it was on sale for $350. Came delivered in a rectangular crate by a local freight company.

Got this set on the last deal for $350. Based on the other reviews regarding the rubbery smell, I unpacked it outside, wiped everything down with Clorox wipes and let it all air out for a couple of hours before bringing them inside.

Man these things are heavy, like 300lbs heavy, but I got them into my basement. Yup, they're in my basement but they're a little too low to the ground to air dry any laundry on as I don't have a bench or rack for them and intended to just use them for deadlifts for the time being. I recommend anyone else in a similar situation to use a stationary bike for your clothes air drying needs.

There was the very slightest crack in the rubber coating on one of the plates but no reason to return or complain about it. If I ever make it downstairs again and remember to bring some epoxy or super glue I might touch it up but not too worried about it.

Are they bumper plates or is the rubber kind of thin?

The rubber smell May annoy some people. It will fade after a year or so. You can greatly speed that up if you put them out in the sun for a week and bake them in the summer heat

These are not bumper plates but this is a good deal if you don't need bumper plates. I bought the last time they were $350 and they did have a fairly strong odor. Like others have said it the odor does go away after a few weeks.

Got one for $400, mine got delivered today. It was delivered on Enterprise "rent a truck" by two guys. Not in a crate, like many others mentioned, just a barbell and little boxes with the weight plates. I guess it was originally in a crate but the delivery guys took it out of the crate before loading on the truck, so that it's easier to load / unload. This way they don't have to lift the whole 300lbs at once. The downside is that it's easy to mess up. Luckily in my case all the weight plates and a pair of spring clips were in place, but make sure to check your set. For the reference, it should be like this:

- 14 Plates
- 2 x 45 LB
- 2 x 35 LB
- 2 x 25 LB
- 2 x 10 LB
- 4 x 5 LB
- 2 x 2.5 LB
- Barbell (Olympic Bar: 7 Ft, 2 inch sleeve diameter)
- 2 Spring Clips

Can confirm the smell, but it doesn't bother me - it will air out eventually. I actually think it comes from the oil - weight plates are lubricated with something, clearly visible on the plates themselves but more so - in the plastic bag in which each plate is wrapped (yellow stains of lubricate).

Didn't open all the plates yet, the only complaint so far is that one of the spring clips has very rough surface - tears clothes and skin. The other one is smooth as it should be.

Did a couple of different exercises with the barbell to try it out - love it, looking forward to getting back into regular free weight workouts. Just need to wait for the squat rack and a bench to get delivered. On that note, after I already purchased a squat rack, I found a cheaper option: this power cage at Costco: https://www.costco.com/.product.100757705.html. It's $310, standard 1-inch holes and 2x2 inch steal. Should have gotten that, but too late now.

Edit: OMG, there's a decent power cage squat rack for $229: https://slickdeals.net/share/ipad_app/t/15927190. Maybe I should send back my Fringe Sport $300 squat rack with $116 spotter arms and get that instead…
