Is there a reason to get this over the western digital (which is a bit cheaper)?

Both are Gen 4

Yup, I ordered a few days ago and it's being delivered today. Placed another order today. It's not a huge price drop but it adds up when building a new rig

1200 MB extra Write Speed is the difference I noticed. Also saw a few more CrystalDiskMark scores that were just a hair faster. Not sure if that's a $27 value. I had already purchased it when I saw the WD deal. I think I'm going to hold. Definitely interested in everyone's thoughts on this.

No mention of PS5 compatibility, especially since there is no heatsink for this model. However, the reviews mention that it tops out at 66c, even without a heatsink during heavy workloads.

Both are Gen 4

i have a 500gb gen 3 sn?? 850 or 750 basically the one with dram for western digital

and i have the 2 tb sk hynix gen 3

to me... the quality of both of them should be good, the only gen 4 WD i think that is not good is the dramless sn750 that performs worse than my gen 3 variant that has dram on it

they demonstrated gen 4 drives that didn't even meet the recommended specs (like dram less drives that perform worse than gen 3 drives)

this is technically under the specs (but barely)... currently with games you can install any gen4 drive and all ps5 games will work and oddly enough the one game that apparently uses the tech the most for sony is the ratchet and clank game which works fine with low grade gen 4 drives

i wouldn't be concerned about compatibility as you can just return it to amazon if it doesn't work and i have seen the cheapest gen 4 drives work on the ps5 thru vids

Sustained write performance - It seems WD has better and also WD has heat sink but in short bust, P41 wins. So now it depends on user to user work load.

Could you please share where you got this info? I ordered the WD one and it would be great to see!

Is there a compelling reason to get this over the Gen 3 Gold for 159? Just going to put it in my PC for games.

Most people can't tell between sata and nvme gen 4. Almost no blind test without running benchmarks can tell between gen 3 and gen 4. Trying to justify spending $27 (>10%) more money for a faster gen 4 makes no sense. If it makes you happy you get faster benchmark scores then do you but the difference in almost any task will be near imperceivable. The WD one is the better deal and it is also a very reliable fast gen 4 nvme. The only argument for this drive is for laptops with nvme gen 4 and no space for heat sink solely on reducing heat

I don't think either me or OP whom I responded where talking about price...

Folks purchase based on what they like.. Wink I am on the fence because I have P31 but need to upgrade my Samsung 256Gb SSD...
