Both have their own very distinct sound. Sony is suppose to have superior ANC. I have the Sony xm3 and xm4 and love them both. They're quite comfortable but my ears begin to hurt after some hours. But I still love them! I've tried on older QCs and thought they were insanely comfortable. If you like bass and very defined terrible, the Bose are for you. I really don't think you can go wrong with either. Neither are audiophile level. Both are real fun.

Thinking the same thing considering they are about the same price right now. Sony probably sound better but I think the Bose is more comfortable for longer wear time. I had the 1000xm4 and they sounded great but was not as comfy compared to my old Bose QC 35s. Gave the Sony's away but now with the price this low.

Beware that a significant number of these have a channel imbalance. They're also tuned somewhat oddly, with some sharp peaks in the treble that don't sound super pleasant. Comfy though.

I have both. I mostly like the XM4 except for flights over the pacific. I find the Bose more comfortable after 6+ hours.
