wtf. lol. What's the catch here? Does it power off every day and have security holes directly for the Chinese? 😂

Before Chinese companies entered the arena I remembered it mainly just Linksys, DLink and Netgear for mainstream consumer routers. I've always had issues with my Netgear, but somehow I thought buying a more expensive Netgear would resolve the issue. if I could go back in time I would just tell the 16yo me to get the WRT54G

Then when Buffalo, TP-Link and TrentNet joined the party along with ddwrt, finally things got better

All I have read is trash talk here. This is a basic router for those who don't have a router or upgrading from a 10+ years old router. If you want to do fancy things or customizing, then this probably is not the router. Please stop talking trash for a basic router that will work for 95% of average consumers. You are some 5% I do not want to ever meet with. lol.... that said, Thanks slickdeal and op who posted this. I got one for basic needs.
How do you know it'll keep a connection? If you have never been burned by a budget router count yourself lucky.

In for one as just a back up since the TP-Link one we have is at least 4 years old. If this is useful in an emergency until a new router is received, then it'll have have served its's purpose.

Read the reviews on Amazon before buying.
Took your advice then decided to pass on this. Sort by new reviews and you really see no positive reviews. Lots of reports of drop outs and other problems.

With the high shipping to the east coast this deal is essentially only about half off of Amazon $40 right now. No reason to go rushing to it.

Two year old router. No firmware updates.

Bad implementation that keeps dropping connections (turning off SmartConnect helps).

https://www.reddit.com/r/HomeNetw...ss_issues/

People who want to use as an ethernet router. The throughput will be very low. It has a pretty weak hardware. Not good for OpenWrt.

Not sure the price + shipping is worth it.

I mean thats true and fair. update the firmware all they want I still have issues with it frequently. security wise can make a big difference especially if you live in the city, But i also value not having to reboot my router 5 times a week to keep it running.
What Asus router are you having to reboot daily? I have owned numerous models by them and they have been consistently rock solid. I owned an Asus RT AC68U that ran for nearly a decade and NEVER had to be rebooted due to anything but a power outage or update.

I still use a TP-Link n750 lol… that's ancient. This will be a nice upgrade for me
