It's the price point. What is your budget. The popular ones are the Lenovo legion pro with the 3070 at 1300.

Typing on this machine right now, I love this machine. Amazing build quality, keyboard, touchpad and performance for the form factor. Only thing that isn't the best is the screen, its bright and color enough but no where near the 16:10 500 nits of the full power versions (the 2022 slim model that isn't out yet is going to have the bright 16:10 screen)

That being said, this is not a good price, frequently goes for $1000 at best buy, especially with prices rapidly dropping on last gen hardware and computer hardware in general. I got it for around $850 open box 4 months ago from BB

Thanks for the tips! Is this not a considerable price even with the 2TB storage? I also see this has the Realtek wifi module (not Intel).. do you think this is an issue? Also, is the RAM upgradeable here?

I mean, it's probably not the worst price in the world but not even close to being worthy of being posted here and isn't a price I would ever pay for this. Can get a 2tb m.2 for around $150. I never had any issues with wi-fi, should really ever notice any difference between the 2 in everyday use and you can just swap them if you care that much or are worried about linux compatibility (i've had way more issues with intel modules compared to realtek personally). It has 1 ram module soldered, the other slot you can upgrade

Why do you consider the 2022 the "full power version"?

Legion slim 7 has 100w 3060, regular legion 7 has 130w 3060/70/80. 2022 slim model still has the 100w GPU again but updated display specs.

Slim 7 sacrifices display, cooling and GPU power for slimmer form factor when compared to the regular model

Thanks a lot for those helpful tips! Is there any deals in this high performance, highly portable segment of laptops that is worth considering today? Would really appreciate any pointers to any current deals that are worth it.

Maybe check this out, I have one that brings it down to $950 open box in my area(2021 model):https://slickdeals.net/f/15907630-asus-rog-zephyrus-g14-14-fhd-144hz-gaming-laptop-amd-ryzen-7-16gb-...

I would never recommend Asus personally after having 2 desktop mobos and 1 laptop mobo fail on me a little after a year after buying them but some people love the g14.In regards to portable, the G14, lenovo slim 7 2021/22 or razer blade are the main contenders, razer is also a company I am really salty with and would never buy something from them. f I were you I would wait for the 2022 lenovo slim 7 to come out and buy that on a sale, was supposed to come out this month but guess they are late.

I didn't see you mention gaming but if that isn't really a factor in your decision Macbook Air is really powerful with battery life/portability/display/build quality that is almost impossible to beat at the sale price of $800 and may even go lower with M2 macbooks coming out.
