Does anyone know if the 4300 or 5400 has the same funnel cracking problem as the 3200? My 3200 broke and I'm waiting on the grinder/motor part to fix. Wondering if the insides of the 4300/5400 are better.

This can also be done on the 4300. Except it can only be done under the espresso drink setting. I have owned a 4300 since last year and when I did my research there wasn't enough differences between the 5400 and 4300 to justify the price jump. I also have a dual boiler semi automatic that blows this thing away in term in quality, but I only use it infrequently because of the work/cleaning involved.

I think for most people this automatic is superb for a decent espresso based drink.

Ah, the oiliness of the dark roasts… Lighter roasts are also out the question too due to the fine grind needed and control as with that a super auto cannot offer.

Internals in all these machines are exactly the same. EXACTLY. Only thing that differs is the front panel.

Was eyeing this deal last time around, ended up getting the 3200 for $420 on Prime Day, and don't mind frothing my own milk so far at all. I make 90% iced lattes, and find that the extra drink modes outside of espresso are largely a waste. The ones on the 3200 basically just add variations of water to the end of the espresso... I can see the LatteGo saving ~30 seconds a day, but for me it wasn't a make-or-break, and I like to customize everything after the shot anyway. The warning messages and such on the 4300 are nice to have for sure.

Seems like the CB is in question?

? I just add ice to my mug if I want iced latte. Simply chose larger mugs to accommodate larger drinks

Super auto to super auto, they'll produce similar outputs. But comparing semi-automatic (where you have to manually prepare the grind and portafilter prep) say the Gaggia Classic or Breville Bambino, it's an apples to orange comparison, and a separate topic altogether (semi-auto vs. super auto machines).

What is it about a dark roast that is harder on a grinder? They give a 4 year warranty on the brew unit if you register, but not sure if that covers the grinder. Wondering, as I have a conical burr grinder sitting right next to the machine, and they let you add-your-own grinded bean portion for shots.

FWIW, sample size one, I can get within ~10% of the taste of my local $7 latte shop with their beans in my 3200, and the cost savings / convenience is well worth it. IMO, the diminishing returns as you go up in machine price and maintenance make these $4-700 machines the sweet spot, but coffee is highly personal.
