The milk frothing system for the lattego is unrivaled imo. You fill the carafe with milk then connect it. When you are done, you wipe the pour spout and put the leftover milk filled carafe into the refrigerator for later. Other counter systems require cleaning or purging.

It's easily one of the best features for the uninitiated or lazy like myself.

Also has a quick clean feature for the lattego milk container. 3000 series doesn't have it

What does the travel mug feature do? Is that a regular coffee but in a bigger size? Without that feature, what's the most oz coffee it can make? Kind of lame that's only a feature on the most expensive one.
I haven't used it yet but I don't think it's a huge deal personally. I believe It allows you to alternate between two sizes routinely used in travel mugs (I think it's either 8oz or 12oz) and it allows you to set a custom temperature for the drink (low, medium, hot). That's about it.

I had this but returned it. The temperature of the milk just wasn't hot enough (yes, after adjusting the temperature settings to the highest option). I've owned a whole bunch of superautos, and none of them make piping hot milk-based drinks. Still searching, if anyone has recommendations.

Try a temperature control cup like Ember?

Jura is arguably the top tier for super-autos, but that price tag is absolutely commercial level. Embarrassment
(The Giga X7 is a "professional' machine)
It's like comparing a Honda Civic to a Ferrari. Obviously the civic is better. Smilie

More like a Honda Civic vs. a commuter bus.

Got mine... Haven't tried drinks yet, but am initially slightly disappointed at the construction (a lot of plastic pieces). I opened the machine up to look at the brew group and it was plastered all over with grease and/or adhesive - it seemed strange! I didn't see it mentioned in the manual, but is this normal?

Yes, the grease is food grade lubricant that is necessary for operation. In fact, the machine has been known to require greasing after few years.

Phew! Thanks for the reassurance! I'll test it out tomorrow after I get some beans and will report back! Any tips for initial setup to get the best results?

People like to equate their expensive machines to Ferrari's all the time, when in reality, your analogy is far more accurate. The need of a machine like that is far different, and the "Ferrari equivalent" for an espresso machine is not as expensive.

Not too sure about that, but I swear I've seen it in stock before at philips.com

https://www.usa.philips.com/c-p/E...o-machines

According to this facebook group Philips.com had it in stock on June 21st.

It just means the spout moves up further allowing small mug to fit under it. Not sure how much coffee it can brew at once for the mug

Philips recommends greasing the brew group every 2 months.

So wash brew group weekly, use coffee oil remover tablets monthly, and grease every 2 months.
