You need the Dual Ranked version to work with Synology, it has memory chips on both sides of the pcb. Model: CT16G4SFD8266

$73 at Amazon and $58.18 at Newegg, but the Newegg shipper is in China. Took a month for me to get mine, but it worked.

I got this yesterday and asked if it would work in the synology DS220/920 line, and apparently this was not recommended.

Are you just adding this 1 chip to the Dell G15? I bought the same laptop and thought you had to match the first chip which is 8GB for it to work properly? Can you have an 8GB and 16GB chip in the two slots?

Seems like you would want ECC for your use case, to lessen risk of data corruption

You can mix and match RAM with different capacities but they'll run in Single Channel mode instead of Dual Channel mode (if you're only running 1 stick now you're essentially in single channel mode so there's no loss in performance).

I believe only 8GB is "recommended" but you can upgrade past 8GB on most models, just know that Synology support won't help if you're having issues and upgraded past 8GB.

isn't this a better deal?

after 15% coupon it comes out to $46.74 before taxes.
I've used teamgroup in many PCs and they work great.

The best deal is 2x16gb 109.99 - 20% coupon comes out to 87.99 this is for 32gb total or $44 each.

Went with one more set of the 2x16 version of this ram as it is slightly cheaper than the black friday price for it and the kits were compatible with my hardware. Thanks OP.

There are no reports of that ram working with my Nucs and I'd rather pay the price for the crucial ram that has known compatibility both from their site and my own testing.

Appreciate it but I'd much rather use this well known ram for running my VMs and whatnot Smilie.

umm no offense but who looks at compatibility lists these days, in my experience NUCs aren't like MACs, or old Ryzen, but I get the time is money and pay for something that's guaranteed to work.

personal experience, I've built tons of laptops (refurb older corporate laptops) no issues with Teamgroup.

Didn't Micron aka Crucial Discontinue their line of Ballistix ram? I guess they can or won't compete on price?

But Yah I've purchased Crucial many many times, I do trust them for stuff, but don't agree they provide the best bang for buck.

Thoughts on the real-world performance difference on CL22 vs CL16? The Teamgroup one advertises both, and the CL16 is only a few bucks more. If I got a double pack it would replace whatever came in the laptop, so cross-stick compatibility wouldn't be a concern.

If your laptop supports XMP or DOCP, then yah get the CL16, if your laptop does not allow you to enable XMP then the cheaper CL22 will do the trick.

per their info, goes for Micron as well, if XMP isn't supported it won't operate at full speed.

The ZEUS SO-DIMM 3200MHz CL16 is only compatible with laptops equipped with 【XMP functions】. If your laptop does NOT support XMP, the SO-DIMM 3200MHz CL16 is only operational at a 2666MHz CL19 frequency. For any other frequencies, we recommend opting for SO-DIMM 2666MHz CL19 or 3200MHz CL22 products based on the laptop specs.
