If you walk around the house in socks only, you will have holes in the heels within weeks. I've never owned socks that degraded that fast.

My daughter bought me a pack or these two Christmases ago and they are still holding out well. They are the toughest socks I have used.

I experienced the same thing. I thought it was because I WFH and walk around in socks all day. They either had holes in the heel, or in the back behind the ankle bone, (from pulling them up).

Damn comfortable socks though.

I have the crew version I got in a previous deal. They've lasted two years and are still going. Is this version poorer quality? I wear them with shoes, though.

Manufacturing of anything changes all the time. Depends on what corporate decides. Production runs change often. Seen it with all types of clothing and underwear. Every brand changes constantly. I work in manufacturing support. I've been through hundreds if not a thousand various manufacturing facilities domestically and abroad. Maintenance guys will tell you a lot of things. Many times the brand will just slap their name on it and sell it as their own.
