FYI for anyone who has a current wells fargo credit card - for most of their older cards you can do a product change over to this card instead. I just did this so I can move away from my old 1% cash back card to upgrade to this. You don't get the sign up bonus but all of your credit limit, age of account and all transfers over with it.

Here's my plan. My local utilities allow extra payment. 500 to electricity, 500 to water, 500 to etc and set up the CC to pay monthly to finish before APR is up and free 300 dollars
in fact i've got medical bills anyway

They give you 1x for most purchases except cash and prepaid credit cards. You will want to read the exceptions to get the extra 2x though.
"Gas stations, automated fuel dispensers, and electric vehicle charging stations. The following may not be eligible for bonus Points: Gas or electric vehicle charging purchases at warehouse/membership clubs, grocery stores, car washes, auto repair stores and superstores that sell gasoline or electric vehicle charging." I get most of gas at Costco, BJs, Walmart, Giant or Weis. so this is a no go.
"Eating places and restaurants, drinking places, fast food restaurants, and caterers. The following may not earn bonus Points: food purchased at bakeries, grocery stores and other miscellaneous places that serve food or operate restaurants on their premises, or purchased using a third-party delivery service." My Citi, Chase and Amex cards have at grocery stores and restaurants.
"If retailers do not process transactions using the appropriate VISA® category codes, You will not earn bonus Points but You will still earn Your 1 Point on Net Purchases. Wells Fargo has no control over how a retailer chooses to classify their business."
Not sure how much more clear I could make it. I have applied for several credit cards that do not do a hard credit check. I don't feel like pulling a credit report to disprove people on the internet, so I shall use easy logic:
Hard credit checks stay on your report for 2 years, right? Right.
CreditKarma shows all hard credit checks, right? Right.
If a credit card made a hard credit check I would see it in CreditKarma, right? Right.
I received a hard credit check in May 2021 for the Lowes Credit Card.
My next hard credit check was in Sep 2022 for the Wells Fargo Autograph Credit Card.
I signed up for the Chase United Explorer card in Oct 2021. There are no hard credit checks on my account for this time frame.
So logically, the credit check that Chase did was a soft credit check.

So, there are 3 main credit bureaus: Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. CreditKarma only gives you info on Equifax and TransUnion. When you apply for and open a credit card, it seems most of the time, depending on the bank, the bank will only do a hard pull on 1 of the 3 credit bureaus. There's also the chance that the bank might do a hard pull on all 3. I'm near 100% convinced your Chase did a hard pull on Experian.
My personal experience. I opened a Chase Slate VISA card back in Nov 2019. I keep all my history of my CC stuff in a file.. And yes, Chase performed a hard pull on Experian. Back in early 2021, I converted that Chase Slate to a Chase Freedom Unlimited. Since this was just a CC type conversion, there was no hard pull for this conversion.

I usually buy Publix, Target, Amazon gift cards when I have to meet the spending limit. Anyways you would be shopping them often. However never spent on something you don't need just to meet the spending target then there is no point to get the bonus.
When do the 30k reward points post to our account? has anyone received them already?
Spending rewards seems to be accumulating, but the bonus reward points haven't posted 1 billing cycle after having spent $1500 (within the first 3 months)

Yes. Similar question.
I am close to $1500 spending posted on the account.
But the bonus tracker still says $1500 to spend to get the points.
On the other hand the US Bank card is tracking it in real time.

they said they could not confirm my information. wanted to confirm by sending me a text on my cell, then said my cell is not eligible to get text verification, did not want to call
same for my other [work cell] - not eligible
only way to confirm was to snail mail them 2 recent bills or fax , yes fax !!!
no secure email, they did not want to call my same phones where they wanted to text me to confirm

PASS on this one for their outdated methods
Had a similar issue. You can go into a local Wells Fargo branch to get this sorted out.... which I would recommend to anyone having this issue as they can change everything for you and get it working on the spot. My issue was I was using my Google VOIP number which wasn't accepted so had to give my regular Tracfone backup number.

Guaranteed acceptance with no credit check. First year annual fee is waived. I have several Amex Cards though so they know me.

Anyways, stay humble. We learn things everyday.
