IMHO always go bagged, especially with an expensive vacuum. Bags are the first filter. Miele bag's especially since they're extremely thick. The chamber of mine has virtually no dust of any kind. The pre filter before the motor is spotless. The HEPA filter is really just catching the ultrafine pm25 and crap like that it's picking up.

That's pretty ideal for longevity.
Shark vacuums are designed with planned obsolescence in mind. They like to hide the filter behind a panel that looks permanent, etc. The average consumer doesn't know to clean/change it, and the motor eventually burns out as a consequence. They're the equivalent of the early Beats headphones. They're made with cheap components, designed to break quickly, and they pay crazy amounts of money to have well known people use them for advertisement. They're the disposable lighter of the vacuum industry. They don't allow parts to be available, so if something on it breaks, you either have to find a used part on ebay or throw the vacuum away. The big vacuum YouTube channels like VacuumWars, etc are sponsored by Shark. It's smart business practice, and it works. If you check out any of the YouTube channels that aren't sponsored by Shark, or any of the Vaccum repair channels, you'll realize pretty quickly how poor the quality of them is. Miele is one of the companies that still makes high quality vacuums, and this a good deal. Numatic Henry and WesselWerk are two other good vacuum brands, made in the UK and the US, respectively. Oreck and Electrolux, as well. All of these vacuums have much higher performance, are much more reliable, and much more repairable than Shark or Dyson.
I like my Miele, but wish there was some kind of backpack attachment I can do so I didn't have to lug it around with one hand.

Any thoughts about the bagless CX1 versus it's bagged equivalent?

Check out Sebo. All their vacuums are still made in Germany and offer 5-10 year warranties depending on the model/dealer. I have a Sebo K2 which compares to the Miele C1. $399 is the standard price and I bought mine through an AD which gave me 10 year warranty.

Vacuums like Shark have really good suction with lots of QoL features (like attachments and such) but the build quality is always iffy. I've owned 3 Shark vaccums ove the last 12 years ago they average out right around 4 years a pop but I've spent a total of 300 dollars on them.

So overall, you're probably breaking even if you just buy a bunch of cheap vacuums rather than an expensive one but you're also creating less waste for the environment with a vacuum like this.

Is the Miele Blizzard CX1 TurboTeam PowerLine Vacuum Cleaner (Tech Blue) good enough if I just have hardwood floors? The Cat & Dog seems overkill for my usage all though my dog sheds a ton
