I have the regular RT-AX86U since a year. Its awesome (stable as a rock and reliable). Zero complains.

I picked up the asus rt-ax58u/ax3000 in november or december, and it's excellent. Have heard mostly good things about this.

I have this exact router. With a gigabit ISP connection, the router itself is getting ~940 Mbps down and ~910 up. Wirelessly connected devices in the same room as the router are getting ~150 to 350 Mbps down, depending on their chipsets. I have only restarted this router twice in about 6 months, which is better reliability than the Linksys router it replaced.

Japanese Gundamn Mech, its just a paint job change to sell it to a certain crowd of anime fans. Everything else is identical to the normal version.

I own this router.

The coverage is phenomenal (I live in a 2-bedroom apt, and both the 2.4G and 5G bands cover the entire apt well), the speeds are great, and it's a nice aesthetically pleasing piece that looks great on display. Well worth the upgrade, in my opinion.

Small recommendation? Download the AsusWRT-Merlin firmware that's compatible with this router.
https://www.asuswrt-merlin.net/features [asuswrt-merlin.net]
It's easy to install, retains much of the OEM firmware's features, and provides a few Quality of Life features, tweaks, and fixes to help maintain your home network. It's also free, so no, I'm not a shill or selling anything. Just a fan who likes to tweak their network from time to time.

I can also echo a44100Hz's sentiment. I switched from Netgear myself and don't plan on looking back.

Those are considered good download speeds on 1gb connection? Our 4 yr old "nighthawk gaming" router from Costco is steadily giving 500mb dl speeds to devices on wifi in the room.
