Is there any consensus on which brand makes the most reliable/best performing laptops at the moment?

I would argue that Razer is NOT reliable and Alienwares are 50/50. Lenovo is great tho. Eluktronics are best price/performance.

Only consensus I've seen is on Lenovo - they seem to set the bar among major brands at the moment.

Razer and Alienware are expensive but powerful and have great build quality. Lenovo typically matches their power with comparable build quality at a more reasonable price. Eluktronics are a good bang for buck option but haven't been around as long so their track record is harder to compare to the others.

Their build quality may seem nice, but their quality control is horrendous, therefore not reliable which is was sirdan357 was asking.

I remember Asus used to be among the best, have they fallen off that far?

The specs look nice, but don't be fooled it's missing a few very important features such as GSync, which is a total deal breaker for me and no MUX switch either.

The specs here are incredible, but this laptop is held back by a weak display and very very poor software.

Is it a terrible laptop? No, but I ended up returning my last Gigabyte laptop and exchanged it for a Lenovo.

It's a shame, because if it had Gsync support this would be a no brainer to recommend.

No on the Razer they are absolutely awful and should be avoided. Razer to their credit has a great marketting team. Its the only way to explain how they have managed to remain in business, because it sure isn't due to the quality of their products.

Asus is very good, but their cheaper bargain laptops are usually pretty awful and should be avoided. Asus is also usually priced way too high and there are almost always more affordable options.

Msi has been making some great laptops recently. Got the amd advantage Msi delta 15 and love it. Much better build quality than an older Lenovo legion I had and light weight

only thing razer has going for it is they make a 14 inch model.

Lenovo makes great products, then you realize why they're so cheap ... From security issues that you only discover years later, to the fact that the CCP be spying on you 24/7 on these things, it's literally why they're not in use on government property. Even if you ignore the latter (and I never will) there's always the news telling us that some security flaws happen and that there needs to be a patch downloaded, and which computers need it? Only the Lenovo ones. ALL OF THEM. Take that how you will before you decide. (As an aside, I can't be racist to myself, so... Take that argument and throw that out the window!)

I believe 12th gen Intel cpus are ddr5 only, except the low power LPDDR4x variant (LPDDR-X are used in some ultra books and business models), not ddr4
