It should be fine as a chromebook though since they don't need much power. It looks like it charges through USB C which is a plus.
Also looks like updates until 2027: https://support.google.
I want linux only, with no chrome OS crap.

that said.. the flex 3 can't output 4k cause it uses arm and this cb3 can output 4k cause it uses intel.. so the middle ground, if you wanna output 4k, would be the acer cb for $99 when on sale Acer (CB311-9H-C1JW)

The short answer is yes and straightforward.
I want linux only, with no chrome OS crap.
This is mostly for security purposes, and to make sure it works right/well on their networks.
Our kids had a 'school Chromebook', and all it engendered in them was a hatred of Chromebooks (because all they've used is crappy school Chromebooks).
So we bought them a couple of nicer (better, faster, more robust) Chromebooks via a SlickDeal, and... we soon found out they were unusable for school (because the school uses a locked-down system, with different 'educational' user accounts, etc).
So now my wife and I have a couple of really nice Chromebooks, lol.

I've always considered ChromeOS a good laptop system, but never felt confident about Chromebooks as a Windows laptop replacement (e.g. for work, or other 'serious' stuff).
Getting a higher-end Chromebook changed my outlook/vision/religion.
A year ago I picked up an Acer Chromebook Spin 713, and finally saw what Chromebooks were truly capable of.
So much to the point that I 'traded in' my Windows laptop at work, and got a higher-specc'd desktop.
My Spin 713 is now my go-to laptop for work and non-work.
And since my employer is a Microsoft campus, Office365 makes it even more usable. There's pretty much nothing I can't do work-wise on my Chromebook, that I could do previously on my Windows laptop.
But yeah, I also have a $99 Chromebook, and it's pretty much a dust-collector, too. I'm thinking about giving it a factory reset, and 'donating' it to a small/local non-profit that I volunteer with on the weekends. It's not EOL until 2027 or 2028, iirc.
