I just called Boost , their customer service barely spoke English
got transferred to the cancelation department
the woman named Amanda told me that this is the price and the device is prepaid and I will not be charged if I don't use the device
If I want to use the device then I can buy a plan from their website.

I hope this helps

Any limitations On How I Use My Device? If you get a Device from DISH Wireless or a DISH Wireless authorized retailer without paying full price (MSRP) for the Device, you agree (1) within 60 days to activate and use this Device on the DISH Wireless network and (2) not to resell, trade in, or export, or participate or profit in the resale, trade in, or export of the Device to a third party until you have activated and used the Device on the DISH Wireless network and met all your other financial and contractual obligations to us. If you do this without meeting your obligations, we reserve the right to take any action we deem necessary, including charging you for the difference between the Device's full price and the price you paid for it, and seeking recovery of related damages. If you have a separate agreement with Boost to acquire, purchase, or lease a Device, any restrictions on resale in that agreement will also apply, so please refer to the terms of any such agreement to understand your rights to resell your Device. Any tampering with, reprogramming, reflashing, or unlocking of this Device without DISH Wireless's permission violates DISH Wireless's and third parties' rights under state and federal laws and could subject you to civil or criminal liability.

I ended up just calling and requesting to cancel. They can't directly cancel - they give you a ticket number and submit the request.

did you ask about terms is that correct or generic term for non activation will get full price charge?

I used PayPal to buy this, but I'm calling to cancel the order, after reading the TOS it is better not take any risk.

I tried paying with Vanilla GC with balance, a privacy.com card and other methods without luck. That by itself got me more suspicious that they need a real card to charge later if needed.

It is a pain to get to a human by calling their support line.

Name and address are the minimum required to report debt to a collections agency.
Did you really think I put my real name in a prepaid gift card? 😂

Debit2CashI never put my Social Security number with any of my medical offices - they certainly don't have a problem sending me to collections if I don't pay one of their bills.

They will probably have difficulty going after you for this.....but to me its not worth it for something that I don't really need

Every Dr Ive been to requests SSN on the registration form. If not that at VERY LEAST a DOB. So, lets say as a possibility, you have an address with Grandfather, Father & Son and maybe a child all share the same name. Are they going to send all four people to collections??

How are they going to prove who ordered this? There is no validation, like in the past where Ive taken a contract out on a phone they want at least a .gov ID so they KNOW who they made their BS "contract" with.

You guys scaremongering. This is a nothing burger…

Also as far as im concerned the $1.00 is the MSRP even though discounted!

I didn't bother - I don't want to deal with anything later on. Their TOS clearly indicate specifically charging you the difference between the retail price and what you paid. Not worth it to me even if I do only get it for $1. The question is whether your willing to pay $50 for this.

Bad deal if they have your contact information and charge you for the difference between retail price and what you paid if you don't activate it. Checking out is a binding contract similar to when you checkout on Ebay. I requested to cancel. Not worth it to me for the chance they will try to bill back the full retail price if I don't activate it.

For those that think using a prepaid card will work....sure it will keep them from charging you again on the same card. Doesn't stop them from sending you to collections and going after you directly like any other cell phone company does if you agree to a subscription and don't follow the terms of the contract for purchasing a reduced price phone.
Lock your card to avoid them to charge you for any extra...
prepaid is prepaid, no contract binding ...

It's going to be a hot mess if most of us get bills for $48.
Pretty sneaky!

Exactly. Bunch of fools. Oh well, more hotspots for me. ANYONE could have used your name based on their logic and basically indebted you lol.

In for one, paid with Paypal. Based on other reviews and experiences for this unit across the web, it seems like these might just be unlocked after all.

Or pay $15 to activate the cheapest plan and chalk it up to experience. $15 for a portable power bank with USB C charger isn't the worst price, and you'll even get 2GB of hotspot data fun.

I was just posting the facts. I guess I could see why someone who is scared of getting sent to collections would consider it scaremongering though. Let us know how the agency responds when you argue your case with them LMAO
