The only nitpick I have is the 16:9 display instead of a 16:10.

Other than that, it's a pretty good deal.

Note this CPU has only 2 performance cores. Fine for office work, not so much for anything intensive.

The CPU upgrade to an i7 they offer is also only 2 real cores.

All the U series 12th gem i5 and i7 have 2 P cores and that has been clearly mentioned in the Spec section. I would pick up a Ryzen 7 5825U at this price but their availability is a bit limited for Premium well built allrounder laptops and the lack of Thunderbolt is a dealbreaker for a lot of people, especially who are already invested in Thunderbolt based eco system.

Thinkbook means pretty good build quality or do we have to worry about Lenovo broken hinges?

Broken hinges are rare on thinkbooks, but their fans are notoriously loud compared to ThinkPads.

That's odd, because the reviews I've watched for this thinkbook say that it's whisper quiet.

There are multiple models of ThinkBook series with different Screen sizes and different Processors and each of them gets refreshed with some degree of design, thermal solution changes. SO, it depends on model to model, just like any other laptops. It can't simply be generalized that they are loud or not.

Yes, I know. I was just pointing out that relative to this specific Thinkbook, the reviews mention barely any fan noise and an impressive internal cooling system. I thought that was pertinent enough info to share in response to the other poster's blanket statement about loud Thinkbook fan noise.

I've been watching this thread for a few hours and it took until this discussion that I realized you meant the cooling fans were loud and not that Thinkbook enthusiasts were loud and outspoken, haha.

Ha! But no, I meant that the cooling fans are quiet.

Oh yeah, it was someone else who said that the fans were loud.

Anyways, for what it's worth, I've had a Thinkpad Yoga 460 for some years and I've never really noticed fan noise. Granted, it's not exactly a powerhouse and I wasn't really doing any really heavy lifting. I wouldn't expect that to be an issue for mid(low?) range Thinkpads, but I'm no expert.

Edit: Whoops, just realized the distinction between Thinkpads and Thinkbooks. Guess I just offered some more useless info.

That's not entirely true. Many programs people use don't take full advantage of multi-threading. SO the decrease in performance is not that significant. Iris graphics is pretty weak but it will still allow some gaming and other GPU powered programs.

It by default has 8GB soldered. Then under that you choose the extra 8GB. The box under that should show the combined RAM.
