In theory, a great price!

When does Japan reopen for individual tourism?

Not correct. It's only open through group tour bookings. Individual tourism is still disallowed, but hopefully, not for much longer (maybe a couple more months?)

japan isnt open yet... at least for individual tourism. if you go on a tour package, you dont get free time. there's a set course and guided tour.... unless you have family, going to a wedding/funeral, visiting terminally ill, business trip. anyways, all require a visa now.

1. They got sued in 2020 for infringing on Nintendo's IP. The business renamed from MariCar to Street Kart.
2. This is such a blatantly touristy thing to do. The locals are unamused. There are so many other interesting things to experience in Japan. I would personally not waste my time on this.

My daughter is in Japan right now with her Navy husband. It is near impossible to go and see her in person.

The driving locals, yes. The children there love it though. I went twice back before they got sued and they would always wave at us.

Japan is not open for individual tourism. You will need to book tours through agencies to go, which will cost a whole lot more than this flight
