Thanks for adding this. For a one bedroom apartment, is the satellite overkill or is the deal good enough to just get both rather than a single?
It's way overkill. You just need a router.

I'm just looking for a cheapish chromebook or android tablet that doesn't have that much bloatware and a decent processor.

You can reload the 8th gen with Lineage. I have 4 like that. 2 for dev. 1 for coms. 1 I only use for travel/conferences.

I've since had 4-5 Fire tablets, and have never paid (or otherwise taken steps, e.g. via Fire Toolbox) to get rid of ads.
They're just (imho) so unobtrusive, showing up only on the lock screen.
I know different people have different opinions (and 'ymmv' and all that), but... I never thought I'd hear myself saying this, but... I don't actually mind them.
I 'never' notice them, and the handful of times that I do, they're either:
Glad to hear. Just track down the XDA thread and make sure you're comfortable with the process. It's easy for a veteran but might be intimidating for the novice.

The device codename for 8th gen Fire tablets that you need to search for is karnak.
The price-point is nice, got them for my kids while traveling, but when I actually have to work on them to make sure things are setup right for the kids they are so frustratingly slow I don't want to deal with them anymore.
I've also had problems when I've paid for DLC for kids games on my master profile it's not there on the kids profile.
I've actually experienced that it's easier to use Amazon's ecosystem on straight Android than it is fully inside of Amazon's ecosystem.
I like my cheap Lenovo e10 Chromebook tablet well enough, and it's cheap enough, that I might just switch the kids over to one of those next time.
