Do I need to be careful with plastic trim or can I use this for the whole car? and does anyone have any recommendations for restoring or preserving external plastic trim pieces?
2nd vote for solution finish. if it's porous plastic it'll work. big difference and it lasts a long time

So you apply this while the car is wet after rinsing, and then you use a towel to dry the car? I've always wondered about using a drying aid to dry your car. Appreciate any feedback.
I use Turtle Wax Hybrid Ceramic Wet Wax (label with yellow on it) as a drying aid. Works great.

Meguiars X-Press Spray wax is waaay better than this. This is just another quick detailer. You only use this if your paint has been sealant and waxed..for in between washes. It doesn't have much wax in it..go try X-press Spray Wax, its night and day compared to this. You can usually find a gallon for around $30.

The best plastic enhancer? Strange as it sounds, Penetrol does amazing things other than a thinner for oil based paint. I use it extensively on interior and exterior plastics, aluminum lawn furniture that has faded, exterior light fixtures etc.. I use a microfiber cloth to apply and let it dry. Don't soak the item, as the runs will dry and look like runs. It has been over a year after applying it and my 14 year old tractor cab still looks new. Try it on your cars mudflaps, etc. and always test a small area just to be sure.

I'm sold on the idea of a drying aid.

I've been using TEC-582 this way, usually diluted 1;1 with distilled water (full strength for dedicated application every once and a while).

Really easy just spray, dry, lightly buff with a second towel a panel at a time. Barely takes longer than just drying.

How does this compare to Lucas Slick Mist?

This is more of a detailer, I had good results with it. For our new car I decided to switch to ceramic coating and... it's night and day. It takes a full day of decontaminating, compounding and polishing, but oh boy it looks great.

I don't want to argue that he's wrong. I have both a bottle of Ultimate Quick Wax and X-Press Spray Wax right here on my desk. Ultimate Quick Wax is thinner and less cloudy, while X-Press Spray Wax is thicker and more milky. I find that with Ultimate Quick Wax, I can spray on and wipe off with a microfiber towel. While X-Press Spray Wax, I would spray, then wipe off, and then a second pass with a clean microfiber towel. You have to put more effort than Ultimate Quick Wax, I guess that why they called it "Quick".

I have a car that had 12 years of dirt embedded in the paint. I finally clay barred it and the difference was night and day. Paint feels smooth as glass. However, I can still feel places that have embedded dirt that didn't get removed in one clay bar pass.

My question is: should I wax the car at this point? Will waxing it now embed the dirt even further underneath a layer of wax?

I have good results with Solution Finish Trim Restore
Adams VRT works great. Very versatile. I spend a lot of time researching and the VRT won top marks on a test someone did with dozens of products as a tire shine. As a result, works great on trim and yes it is less long term than Solution Finish, but it's a great product because you can use it on many things. My cowl looks brand new and applied it 5 weeks ago (garage kept though) if actually restoring it, Solution Finish and Forever Black are top trim products
