I have a very old asus router, wondering how much of an upgrade this one would be. My old one is an ASUS AC1300 WiFi Router (RT-ACRH13). I have the important stuff wired, but one of my computers is too far unfortunately, and the download speeds are somewhat slow compared to the others.

Thanks OP.
Seems like it doesn't support AIMesh.
Non removable antennas is a big minus for me.

Looks like it might be compatible with AIMesh per the ASUS website:

Looks like that's the product page for the RT-AX1800 "S" model, wonder if it's the same otherwise?

Edit: That's the model it shows at the top of the page you linked, but further down it does say AX1800, so idk.

It was added in a firmware update.

It's similar to the RT-AX55 but with downgraded hardware. Dual-core in this one vs Quad-core in the better model. They did get AiMesh working in the newest firmware update so it must be decently powerful still.

Get the Belkin RT3200 at belkin.com for $85 with code SEMI2022, or less, on eBay.
Twice as fast (at least in theory), and openwrt capable.

Unless you already have a AiMesh setup up and running.

Depends on how new your wireless stuff is. I have faster speeds on my computer and turning Wi-fi 6 on and off I doubled my speeds. If you have only a 10mbps connection then you'll see little benefit as well. So you need two things:

1. A decently fast connection (Maybe 100-200mbps?)
2. Newer devices

Thank you for the reply! How new do the devices need to be? One of the wireless devices is a 2019 iMac. Also my connection is 300mbps
