These are great if you use sharpies often but don't want to free up the other hand to cap off/on (it can be extremely annoying and time consuming). On the downside, it won't last you more than a few weeks because it's constantly drying: retraction doesn't do a nearly as good of a job of sealing the tip as a cap does.
For those that want a sharpie to toss into a drawer, these are good. The retractable cap helps keep them from drying out. Have one sitting for about two years and still works.
Edit: just checked and it's at least three years old (pre-pandemic lockdowns)

Too bad they are the ultra fine point. I like having a black sharpie in the Kitchen junk drawer so that I can write dates on stuff that I'm putting in the freezer or what have you but the ultrafine point is not so useful for my needs in this case.. Otherwise I would've been in for one.
Convenient, but they dry out fast. The standard sharpie fine point lasts much longer for the same point. I think they should have named it the medium point. And the ultrafine should be named fine point. Misleading the way they named them. You get used to it but the first time you buy you are like WTH?.
They write like a fine point for 5 seconds then it is medium from then on, unless you use the lightest pressure possible. The points simply compress.

Edit: I use the medium points, so maybe fine points do dry out fast, never used them.
That's not been my experience. I use and keep these in the garage in the Texas heat and they still work great years later.
