I was looking for these "swamp coolers" for my home office to help the A/C in the house. The room gets 78-80F during the day. I found this one today and it seems much cheaper than anywhere else according to Google and CamelCamelCamel. Price seems to have dropped in early July. Reviews for the product are mixed and you have to know what you are buying...as this isn't a real a/c. Reviews for the seller seemed decent and looks like they are trying to clear out inventory. I'll post up a review in the thread when I receive it next week.

The Amazon listing has an image showing this is only really useful for MST and PST zones of the US.

Being from India, we used this for decades before AC became common. They work by increasing humidity so places like Florida which have high humidity or on days when it would rain, they are useless. And the one which you keep inside the room are not that good compared to the one which you keep outside and which brings in air from outside.

Not sure about timezone but it won't work in places like Hawaii but will be good for Arizona or Texas on the days when it wouldn't rain. So you can get most of your summer without using AC which consumes too much electricity.

Why not just use a box fan and spray bottle. When you feel hot, mist your face. With the fan blowing on you, you will feel cooler. Maybe suck down a few ices cubes for that extra chill....

I'm in Oklahoma. For the price and since I can't have a window unit (HOA), I'm just going to try it out. My office is 12x12 and with the normal ac set to 71 on a day when it's 105 out it only gets to 78-80 in the room. My hope is that this will bring it down to 72 where I sit at my desk at least, so my use case is really just a small area of comfort for remote work at home. But again, I'll report back next week when it comes in.

Can't fathom it bringing the room temp down 6 degrees or more. I'm trying to cool the same size room (And same temps) and from research, only an AC unit can really do the job. I gave up on buying one of these because I knew I'd be returning it. A 5000 BTU window AC should do the trick.
