Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

yeah, trading in my 4a seems like a no-brainer for a cheap $150 upgrade.

Nice! That's a no brainer with cracked screen.

My quote for trading in undamaged Pixel 3A was the full $300.

Just sign up at https://one.google.com and the discount for Google Store should take effect shortly after. Wait a few mins.
Do you know how it works or what happens if you're already on a One plan? I'm on the annual 100gb plan for $19.99 and it renewed a couple of months ago. If I upgrade for a month and then downgrade or cancel the higher tier plan does it return me to the remainder of the previous plan?

edit: NM, I think I'm just going to use an alternate Google account. Less "messy" that way and I would highly suggest anyone taking a trade in route with Google do the same. Do NOT use your main account because if you run into problems that escalate in a way Google does not like your account can get blacklisted.

Sorry, my bad. I meant 2TB at $10. Mistyped as 10TB. It's only for a month to get the 10% discount. I wouldn't plan to use it unless you want to keep the subscription.

I'm on the fence, reviews came out at the same time as this pre-sale, MKBHD says the 60 Hz display feels slower than other 60 Hz displays, and fingerprint scanner/reader is still slow. Camera is tried and true since the Pixel 2, but for the price I'm considering the A53 at this price point. Gotta do some math, maybe it'll be worth my while to trade it in, sell the Buds, and then sell the 6a for a better device. Alternatively, I might wait til the 7 releases and just see how prices for things drop.

I love the physical size (doesn't anyone make small-ish phones anymore?), but having the same camera sensor as the pixel 2 is a real turn off. And despite the low starting price, the average person won't see this as a good value compared to the heavily discounted 6 and 6 pro. Certainly not good value compared to the 4a 5g and 5a.
waiting patiently for the flop. pixel phones are great and it's all I buy now, but this one missed the mark. just bad timing.

EDIT: that being said, this is a fire deal. with trade in out of pocket cost is probably the lowest you will get and certainly shouldn't be this low pre launch. definitely jump on this deal if you want one

after the month does it revert back to the original plan? I'm on the annual 19.99

Worth it to upgrade from a Pixel 5?
From the pixel 5? Not at all. I can confidently say upgrade from 5 to 7 is also not worth it unless you want a big screen.

I wish there was a way to know if hotspot works with Total Wireless. Some update back in March broke the hotspot feature for most pixel phones and not Google or Total Wireless will do anything about it. I can't have another phone without a hotspot working.

If you want a relatively compact phone, it's really your only option

I just watched the same, and personally don't think I'll notice the screen issue much, coming from a 4a. Fingerprint scanner is a slight concern, but I'll probably just use pattern unlock if it's really bad. I'm mostly doing this to preserve any value this old 4a has as a backup phone so i can get a phone with 5g support.

That said, I like how you think, taking an old device and make some money to get something better. I have so many Bluetooth buds, might as well sell these.
