Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

trade in a Samsung A71 5g for $300. Good deal
No kidding. Was actually surprised it was so high. Swear it was like $80 trade-in when I checked for the normal Pixel 6.

Ugh, but no headphone jack or microSD card slot.

Honest opinion based upon current metrics for comparable prices, options, and just the state of things I'd keep what you already have. For what it's worth since the pixel 5 is already a fantastic device that has experienced the atypical cycle of Google Software tuning meaning that at this point, all of the bugs and irregularities have been roughed out for awhile now, you wouldn't really been seeing any substantial upgrades (as the camera setup is literally the same, along with storage, titan 2 chip, storage, etc) except for maybe some post processing, a longer declared support statement for security + software updates and wifi-over the air improvements depending on your connection; otherwise, yeah I'd either sell it locally or hold out for the 7 series if you are really wanting an upgrade!
Does this include the $300 trade in and $99 (MSRP) free buds from Google?

Nice! That's a no brainer with cracked screen.

My quote for trading in undamaged Pixel 3A was the full $300.
Woah, how?! My 3aXL quote is only $55. Would be a no brainer at that value.

Trading in 3a. Does this have to be unlocked to get $300 ? Can I use one locked to Spectrum ?

Thanks for this! I wanted to have an Android phone on hand but wasn't sold on $450 after the early reviews are pretty middling. Forgot I had a dinged up iPhone 11 around that Google will give me $300 for, plus the free earbuds makes it an easy buy.

I wonder if the rest of us were misquoted, and end up getting screwed later on the trade. They quoted me $300 for me 3a XL.

I have a 3a XL today. Want to upgrade but the choice of the inferior Samsung modem is enough for me to avoid. Early reviews suggest worse signal strength than other phones.

did they fix the fingerprint sensor on this?
No it doesn't seem like it. Rumors were suggesting they would've but MKBHD said the fingerprint sensor continues to be slow just like the 6/6P https://youtu.be/UsD87v8F914?t=150

Asking for a friend... couldn't you just buy a used 3a off ebay for $99 or even less, and trade it in for $300 and net $200 off the new phone....

if you have a pixel 3a or above you are getting $300 as a trade in value + the pixel buds for $448 - $300 = $148

Yes. It's a much better and faster under-display fingerprint reader than the Pixel 6 and 6Pro. Same as what's expected in Pixel 7.
When did you get your 6a to experience this claim?

I was about to trade in my 10 month old 4a with cracked headphone jack for $300, but I can't resist trading in the backup 3a XL for the same amount! Holy heck!
