Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

May I ask why you didn't take the trade-in offer? I traded a Samsung 9 2 years ago and they said it was received with a cracked screen, offer me $175 credit instead of the agreed $300 visa. And then the credit went away so I lost my perfect phone. I don't know if I want to try my luck again.
Lot of horror stories. I haven't had any bad experience when I traded with google store and google fi but many others have had. I would only trade cheaper junk phones like old iphones that have high estimated values. I would be very cautious with trading in a good somewhat expensive phone.

So much hate on the pixel 6. My wife owns one and I have an S21. I regularly use her phone from time to time and love it. She has never complained about her phone except the fingerprint reader. She thinks it's one of the best phones she has ever had.

FYI- was quoted a $295 credit on a 3A with a cracked screen- hope that offer holds up- so if so
$449 6A price- $295 trade in on 3A- $99 free ear Buds- should be about $50 plus tax out of pocket for the 6A- sweet

The regular 6 has been on sale for $500 several times. I would buy it over the 6a all day long.
Perhaps, but not with high trade-in values for Pixel 3 or 3a.

Ugh, why couldn't I have just waited one more month to upgrade. Waited a very long time for a good deal on a new Android but gave up and got a discounted iPhone 12 Pro through Sprint. It was a decent deal, 512GB model for just $200 after $600 trade in bill credits for an iPhone 8 Plus.

Had been using a Pixel 3a XL which is amazing but the 6 seemed questionable and wasn't excited about the 6a either. But its so cheap after the $300 trade in credit. thinking I have to do it anyway as it seems dumb to not take advantage of the trade offer + free earbuds and just throw my new iPhone in a drawer for 2 years and then trade it for something else.

Unlimited photo storage is precious IMO
Ya but Amazon Prime offers free photo storage if you have that.
Or $40 a year with SmugMug works great. Can't hold on to a 3A forever.

$300 for a 3A is insane, I jumped on this deal.

That does help for sure. Hard to go back to a 60Hz screen though...You can tell the difference and I was a huge skeptic on the refresh rate making a difference.

Is there anything you have to do to get the buds? I have the 6a in my cart on Google but it doesn't mention anything about the buds, so I guess I just have to hope they come?

Doubt I'd have popped for this but just cracked the screen on my 4a last week (bad enough that it is basically unusable), so getting $262 in trade is hard to pass up.
I added the bud to my order with the 6A and in the cart before check out they credited the $99

This has the same camera as the 5a, 5, 4a 5g for those thinking of upgrading.

You "upgrade" to tensor, but lose some of the benefits of the older phones like unlimited photo storage and the headphone jack. The only other positive is the extended upgrades and waterproofing (assuming your old phone didn't have that)
