Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

Don't know if it was a good decision yet, but my excellent condition Iphone 8 64gb got $280 trade-in value

The unlocked version, came out to $482 total

With trade in, and 5% back to Discover via Paypal = it's $178 total w/ ear buds.

Not bad

It's pointless to go from a working 4a to 6a.
Does everyone feel this way?

All of you saying what you got for your trade in... You haven't actually got anything yet. You've been given a quote, and they don't have to stick to it. You paid in advance. Do you all really believe they would give you $300 for a 3a? Not happening. Good luck on your returns/chargebacks.

Pixel 3 good condition is 80$. Smh
Google hates their own device so much.
They even offer $100 for my iPhone 6 from 8 years ago.

Two years ago, I traded in a Pixel 2 XL for the 4a 5G when the new phone cost $499 and Google gave me $235 for my old one.

Now they will sell me a new 6a plus throw in Pixel buds for $448, and they'll give me $300 for the old phone. This is an outstanding deal.

I would be all over this if I were not waiting for the Pixel 7 Pro.

I bought a 6 Pro recently at $699 - 10% Google store credit and $150 trade-in for an ink bleeding screen 4a5G.

Bought this deal because I was quoted $260 for a cracked screen 4a5G. Figured I'd rather trade-in for the extra $90

I'll test out both the 6 Pro and 6A to see which one to keep and which one to send back.

Don't think 4A will command 300$ credit next year.. that's what I am considering when trading in.
True.Tho many people are getting quoted $300 for the 3A for this one which I would not have expected. Maybe I should trade into this one and then try go get the $300 credit to trade up to the Pixel 7, 7A, or 7 Pro in the future 😂

can you elaborate on this for us dummies?
Tldr: mmwave is faster 5g but is not available in most places, so you don't really need it, but it's only $50 more if you want full Verizon 5g support.
---
There are 2 flavors of 5G cellular, millimeter wave (mmwave) and sub-6 (ghz), referring to the wavelengths/frequency bands the particular 5g channels exist on.

Mmwave is ridiculously fast, like 1gigabit/s, but is practically non-existent with a few exceptions.

Sub-6ghz 5g, includes c-band and mid-band frequencies that has actually good coverage/range, and can get up to 100's of megabits per second. But anywhere from 2x to 10x faster speeds than LTE (4G).

TMobile's 5g is mostly sub-6ghz and is widely available.

Verizon went with mmwave 5g first, but was limited to literally a few streets in downtown areas. Only in the last year or so did Verizon start their own sub-6ghz deployment and are playing catch up to T-Mobile.

Trying to do Paypal Discover 5% CB. It keeps declining. Anyone in same boat?
What do you mean "declining"

If your discover is linked to paypal, you link google to paypal, and then select your discover card as payment - it does the 5% back automatically

My daily driver is a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (512GB), but I wanted a new backup, which has been a Pixel 3a since 2019.

I placed an order and figured I'll share how much I paid (without sales tax), just in case it helps other decide or helps others maximize their own purchase. If I'm missing anything, let me know!

$449 (Google Pixel 6a)
+ $99 (Google Pixel Buds A-Series)
- $99 (promotion of free Google Pixel Buds A-Series)
- $8.98 (2% cash back through third-party web portal)
- $13.47 (3% cash back for using third-party cash back credit card)
- $300 (Google Pixel 3a trade-in)
= $126.55

Note: Earns $44.90 Google Store credit (Google One Premium membership of 10% cash back for Google Store purchases). If I consider this credit as good as cash, then the phone + earbuds = $81.65.

-----

By the way, Discover credit card is offering 5% cash back as its current category if you check out via PayPal. (I already used up my $75 in cash back for this quarter.)

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

yeah, trading in my 4a seems like a no-brainer for a cheap $150 upgrade.
Did the same thing with my 4A, I actually just bought the pixel 6 pro when it was on sale recently for i think 699 or something. But why not trade in my 4A for 300 dollar credit and get a 2 gen $150 dollar upgrade w/ free 99 dollar wireless earbuds. Even if i just sell the pixel 6a and the ear buds. I will definitely make out better than selling my 4A xD
