Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

To get the pixel 6 and 6 Pro fingerprint reader to work faster, just register your same finger TWICE

I hope those that did, or plan on doing, the trade-in that you select to have them "return the phone" if they don't honor the estimate.

I hear some saying they received more than the estimate, and some saying they received less, but have only seen one person saying they were basically given nothing.

So, if they offer much less, or even nothing, they get to keep your phone, and you have no recourse to get it back- unless you selected the "return phone" option

Also, take photos of the condition, maybe a video or two of it shutting down and powering up, and of it being reset.
If they don't honor the estimate and you have them "return the phone", does that cancel the sale of the Pixel 6a, or are you stuck paying the full price for the 6a?

May as well let them keep it and at least give you some value (credit) towards the new phone. What do you think?

Yeah the pixel 3 vs 3a is odd. Was going to get my mom an upgrade til I saw that. Upgrading my 4a 5g. I got it for 350 so getting 300 for it was good with me. Did not see pixel buds in my order when I checked out and completed my order. Did anyone else?
You have to put them in the cart at $0 when they show the accessories screen.

It's $2.49 for 1 month and then $9.99 for the second. The discounted rate shows up when I go to the link I provided in my post. I'll provide it again... If it doesn't show up for you I guess you're not eligible. Make sure you're logged into your Google account as well.

Does it actually show you that you'll be getting 10% Google Store credit at the checkout? I didn't see it anywhere although I have 2TB Google One plan.

It 100% shows you the 10% credit on the cart before the order is placed. If you don't see it make sure you're logged into Google One? That's the only reason I can imagine you're not seeing it. Maybe contact their chat support if you still don't see it.

Edit: I was incorrect the credit for having Google One doesn't show up on the checkout page but it 100% shows up on the cart! If you see it on the cart then you're good to go.

Holy cow, I got a deal here. I had dead pixels all over my 4A, and I forgot I had Google Store Credit, and I have Google One so I get 10% in store credit back.

Free ear buds, a free Chromecast TV (from the store credit I will get), and a brand new phone for $150 is insane.

I can't really answer your question, but I didn't see any listed limits. I did two on the same account without issues, for what it's worth.

imnobody, thanks for that information. I also have the Premium 2TB Google One membership plan, and did not see any information about the 10% cash back at checkout nor in the cart. I was logged into my Google One account on the same browser. I took screenshots of every step of my order, so I just checked all of them and there's no mention of it. I may just wait a bit and chat with Google One after receiving the phones.

Take care,

Thanks OP and everyone.

Pixel 3a owner here. I'm super happy with my existing phone (it helps that I have low expectations), but I'm quite tempted to take the bait on the $300 trade-in.....

However, my only concern giving up the 3a is the loss of free unlimited google photos. I've read in other threads that some people buy the OG Pixel for purposes of unlimited ORIGINAL QUALITY google photos. I understand that backing up picks becomes more cumbersome, but I'm up to the task. My frugality knows no bounds (or rationality).

Does anyone have experience using the OG pixel as a dedicated google photos backup device? This thread seemed awesome:

The pixel 5 is the last phone with unlimited backup, and its a good phone (better than pixel 6/pro according to some).

I updated my comment. You're going to see the 10% credit for having Google One on the cart not the checkout page.

Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately, my cart didn't show it either: https://i.imgur.com/QTGnd7p.png

I appreciate your help regardless!

Doesn't look like you'll get 10% credit back if it doesn't show up in the cart. I just chatted with customer service and was told that she didn't see it applied to my order. I had one year free Google One thru Chromebook and upgraded to 2TB today. However, I will not be charged for it until Sep. That might be the reason.

I've been a regular paying member of Google One for years, so that wouldn't be the reason for me - which could mean it possibly isn't the reason for you, either.

I won't be chatting until after I receive the phone, but I'll keep you updated.

Take care,
Tofu Vic
