Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

I have 2 excellent condition Pixel 3as. Although one is about a year older and the battery needs replaced. Both were purchased for less than $150 though various deals. Nice!

Also, the trade in of a Pixel 3a for any other Pixel phone is only $50.

Will Google accept the phone that is still on a T-Mobile payments plan / promotion? I called T-Mobile and they said they wouldn't care and would continue to charge me until the plan term is met. I only have 4 more payments left on my old Pixel 4A (5G).

Does Google care if the trade in phone, the back of the phone may have a barely noticeable bump probably due to the battery expanded a bit?
I just want to warn you, one of your lithium battery cells is failing. There is a chance of a very serious thermal runaway event which can start a fire or cause personal injury. Get rid of that phone.

I bought Spigen Rugged Armor Designed for Pixel 6a Case (2022) - Matte Black for $14.24 on Amazon right now. It should arrive tomorrow. I always buy the Spigen Rugged Armor cases for all my various phones as they look great, thin, provide good protection, provide better grip and is comfortable to hold. If you are looking for a case, I highly recommend Spigen.

For tempered glass screen protector, I recommend Supershieldz. There is a 2 pack for $7.99. I didn't buy the screen protector yet because I wanted to really test out the onscreen fingerprint sensor and make sure it works well before I consider a tempered glass screen protector. If the fingerprint sensor struggles, I wouldn't use a screen protector as I think it will only make it weaker. This is my experience with my Samsung Galaxy A71 5G.

I just wanna make sure i get the timing right on this.
  • Offer good July 21-28.
  • Phone ships July 28 - Aug 1.
  • I have 30 days to send in phone from when I initiate trade-in offer.
Assuming I initiate my order July 28 and shipping takes about 1 week, I have about 3 weeks to transfer info from my current phone to the new phone. Is this correct?

Anyone know whether they care about cracks on the back glass of a galaxy note 9? Screen is fine, so I'm not sure whether select cracks ($255 trade) or not ($300 trade).

No luck for a Pixel 3 XL trade in, it appears.
Yeah, just $110 for the 3 XL. Oh well, lol.

You got $295 for a cracked 3a, while I get $30 for a prefect 3. How does that make sense?

I have no idea. You used the links, right? Apparently it's very different if you go thru google fi.

Why does the Pixel 2 never qualify....
That is really old, and likely cannot be resold.

Editing to say, I just received a Google Store email which shows 'up to $300 for pixel 3a (and 3a xl)' so that value is confirmed and my concerns about it being a price mistake are gone.

If you have Google Fi phone service like me however, you'll need to use a separate account to order through Google Store and not through the Fi website/account.

I have Google Fi service and the 3a trade-in value through their website shows as only $45 or $50.

Any thoughts on this Pixel 6a for $449, versus a Galaxy S22 for $499 ? That's another Google Fi deal right now. I'm a light user, mainly need reliable connection/performance for work calls. I appreciate any advice.
You can use the same email to purchase through the google store. I have fi and i had no problems.

For the same price? S22 all day. The modem on the pixel 6 is atrocious. But at $150ish after trade in? The pixel 6a would be a no brainer.

Trade in value of $295 for a cracked Pixel 3a . Have not done google trade-in before, do they adjust the price later on ?
Anyone has an experience with how the Google interprets this. I have chosen "Option NO for Is the phone free of Cracks and does the screen work properly". If I send the phone with slight burn purple tint on LCD display but without any cracks, are there any chances they might not honor the $295 trade in value? As I already declared that screen is not in good condition do I get a chance to stand my ground to get the trade value?

Go for it. They don't care about the network lock status of your phone. Just it's physical condition matters. The credits from T-Mobile will continue to hit your account for the next 4 months.

Wish 6a would come with 256g. It's pointless to go from a working 4a to 6a.
Agreed. I just can't give up my 3.5mm audio port, flawless fingerprint scanner, and smaller form factor in the 4a.
