Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

I got a pixel 3a xl with screen burn in, I assume as long as the screen is working I can trade it in..

This would be a perfect phone for my son ( who has a note 8), + the free pixel buds for free.

No, I placed a second order and after it was successfully placed I cancelled the first. I did that for the cashback and Google One store credit - may have been a waste of time for me but idc.
Did you see the store credit in your google account? I bought this late in the evening yesterday and i dont see the credit yet.

Is this a good deal based solely on future trade-in value? Otherwise I don't see how this device is worth it.

Maybe someone can explain

Thinking of trading in my Pixel 4xl for this, but not sure it's worth it. Specs look similar and just had the battery replaced in the 4xl and would lose wireless charging. Would I get better battery life and better pictures from the 6a?
I think the camera specs would be similar to your 4xl to be honest. The only thing you gain is more updates and a different design and 5g. 1st Gen tensor hasn't shown to be that great

Wow. I had $44 credit (basically made up for tax) and will get $295 for my husband's cracked pixel 3a. Plus got $44 more credit. I've been looking for a way to upgrade his phone (the crack drives me bonkers, though he's been ok with it) cheaply, and this is IT!

Though, boo, now he has a better phone than me (5a) again.
You got $295 for a cracked 3a, while I get $30 for a prefect 3. How does that make sense?

I would say it's worth it mostly for the $300 trade in value for anyone with an older model like the 4a or 3a.

Holy cow, I got a deal here. I had dead pixels all over my 4A, and I forgot I had Google Store Credit, and I have Google One so I get 10% in store credit back.

Free ear buds, a free Chromecast TV (from the store credit I will get), and a brand new phone for $150 is insane.
is the 10% credit later? it will be after we purchase? I don't see the 10% discount or credit on my cart during check out

I was definitely interested in the 6a since my 4a's battery sucks, but probably wouldn't have pulled the trigger without the $300 trade in credit and free buds.

A good future trade-in value of a cheap phone and the free Pixel Buds (retail $99) makes the actual cost way cheaper than a $449 phone. This is upper midrange at a legit budget price if one does the good trade-in. Is it perfect with no cons? No but it has plenty of pros at its deal price. Sure one can just buy the phone with the free Buds at $449 but it is always good to take advantage of great trade-in values when you can.

Nice. I was waiting for this deal, I can finally trade-in my 3a. Yay!

Last time I tried to trade in my HTC M8 phone, they bounced it back to me because something was wrong with the internals even though there was no cracked screen and only minor scuffs on the body. I took better care of this 3a, so hopefully I can get full trade-in value this time and no bounce back. /fingers crossed
