Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

Thanks for this. I was still sporting the Pixel 4a 5g and one 3a xl. The trade in values are great.
For those looking for a deal. Boost mobile has the iphone 2nd gen for $100 plan included. It gets $285 trade in at google. Just make sure to turn off autopay with boost mobile. They're sneaky and turn it on automatically.

I really dislike touchwiz, but agree that's better value if you want a samsung
I also dislike TouchWiz. Just in case you're not aware, TouchWiz was discontinued 5 years ago in 2017 and was replaced by Samsung Experience, which was then subsequently discontinued in 2019 and replaced by One UI.

One UI is significantly better than TouchWiz. That said, I still enjoy the clean Android experience that Google's own phones provides more, and I run Nova Launcher Prime [google.com].

I hope this helps,

FYI - I was quoted $295 trade-in credit for my pixel 3a with cracked screen at Google 🙂 and got the free pixel buds. feels like a heck of a deal to me!

edit- I purchased unlocked without a Google Fi plan
295? Wow. They were going to offer me 85 bucks for me regular 3.

The one that they bricked with an Android update.

Ah, whatever it's called now, forgot they changed it. I have a Tab S7 and run the Microsoft Launcher. But, there's still annoying things that happen with it defaulting to the Samsung accounts for calendar, photos, and some other apps. it's really annoying. I wish the Google Launcher was still available

You can use the same email to purchase through the google store. I have fi and i had no problems.

For the same price? S22 all day. The modem on the pixel 6 is atrocious. But at $150ish after trade in? The pixel 6a would be a no brainer.
I have Google Fi and used a mobile browser to order and trade-in for full $300 (hopefully). Although, my 3a is not my Google Fi phone, it's a paperweight in a drawer.

Also, yes, the P6 modem is hot trash. It's my main complaint. It randomly drops WiFi (less on a cheap Asus than the expensive Xfinity one) and cell service (less on Google Fi than T-Mobile, strangely arrive they're the same network). I tried to take advantage of the S22 Plus for $450 months ago on Google Fi, and that phone wouldn't connect to WiFi at all. It was a mac address issue with the Xfinity router (beyond my tech abilities), so I sent it back.

Curious why you say that? I'm getting the buds, but I already have cheap BT earbuds that work very well and the battery lasts forever so I'm not sure what I'd be gaining by switching to the Pixel buds. I think it would be better to sell them new and unopened, though the market will probably be flooded after this.
The audio cuts out very often. If you've got your phone in your pocket, and you move your arm in between your phone and the earbuds, the audio will cut out. It also just cuts out randomly while walking around outside. If you turn your head too quickly, it cuts out.

I have even been able to completely block all audio by putting my hand in a very specific place between my phone and the earbuds.

Out of all the things earbuds are supposed to do, you'd think it would at least be able to play sound consistently.

I think people who are trashing this deal are missing the point of this deal. You're upgrading from a 3a or 4a to a 6a so that in the future you can trade in the 6a to a better Pixel phone, and you're getting $300 credit for a 2 year old phone. If you don't get that... well, then you probably never will. Have a nice day.
I got $260 for my 4a 5g with a crack that I got 2 year ago for like $400 then I get to update to phone with all new tech that will futureproof me for a lot longer then the time my 4a had left. It was a no brainer.

I have a 4a 5g that still runs great and has unlimited photo storage. P6 was a disappointment for me, thinking it's not really worth it to upgrade to 6a
I was debating whether to upgrade from 4a 5G. after seeing this post I decided not to, esp the finger print sensor at the back of the phone is too convenient for me.

I've got a 4a as well. No complaints but it's hard to look away at getting a brand new current model phone for $150 (and ear buds, if that matters to you). What are the chances you're going to get $300 value for the 4a again? If nothing else you're going to get more return when you give up the 6a - either selling it outright or trading it up again in the future. It's a safe bet that you're going to be offered more for the 6a than 4a down the road.
Chances are pretty high considering the 7a will release around the same time next year and that's when the 4a series will be end of life

Annoyed the 3XL isn't as sweet of a deal for trade in as the 3a but I guess it's for a 6a so they are favoring the A line up or something.

Did anyone get the 10% google credit after buying this phone? I saw someone said they got the credit and cancelled the order and placed another one for the credit? Is that possible?
That's exactly how I did it. Credit showed up on the checkout page is $44.90. says it will get applied after 30 days for a future purchase

The 6a doesn't seem like a huge upgrade from the 4a 5G to be honest, you could trade in a Pixel 3a and still get $300 off from what I hear. Unless you hate your 4a 5G and just want to get rid of it.
My 4a 5G is a secondary phone. My primary is my iPhone 13 Pro Max, but I need Android for some things and it's also on a different carrier than my iPhone which is good when I travel and my iPhone has crappy cellular.

I picked up a Motorola Edge 256GB 2021 a couple days ago (deal at BestBuy) for $240. Great phone with WIFI 6E but it does not have an OLED/AMOLED screen. It does have 144hz screen, though which the Pixel 6a does not,

Hmmmm...now I'm wondering if I should just cancel?
